I bought that album when it came out on cassette and what I remember most was I bought it for a road trip to see a dying relative in a Las Vegas hospital. Now that you mention it I think the synths were what turned me off and it took me a while to accept them. I never forgave Metallica though after they candied out.The synthesizers were quite divisive amongst the fanbase at the time. That '86-'88 era of Somewhere in Time and Seventh Son of a Seventh Son is either the best or worst of Maiden in their prime from a lot of peoples' view.
