I remember seeing the movie and having listen to the album as a kid I was pretty stoked by that scene. Even where the scene took place, live right down the road from there from age 4-10.

I started reaching adulthood roughly a decade after you, but I also have many fond memories of 90's movies and share your view that it was the best decade in film history.

I never saw Grand Canyon, but the 90's movie that Zevon's song evokes for me is Carlito's Way.

Every time I hear that song, I picture Sean Penn's Kleinfeld character in my head:

Always loved SR-71’s song about 9/11. Remember hearing this for the first time in 2002 and stopping everything to listen to the lyrics, like when Live re-released Lightning Crashes (Oklahoma City remix).
