I will go to my grave believing Diamond Heads Lightning to the Nations LP is the most important album in metal history. Without it, Iron Maiden doesn’t need two guitarists, Steve Harris’s signature bass gallop, or Bruce Dickenson’s operatic vocals. Metallica and Megadeth likely don’t even exist without covering these songs.

Every song on Lightning was a metal masterpiece. So much so the intro to Am I Evil was ripped off by Nintendo for the Super Mario Bros 3 airship battles.

I agree, they were probably the most influential band to come out of the NWOBHM era. I saw Budgie too along with Judas Priest.
