If you want to be a baddass rock and roll motherfucker in the studio, on stage, and in the tour bus, you need to do as much heroin and cocaine as possible. In fact, don't bother smoking it or snorting it. Just fucking eat it! Put some in your toothpaste and your shampoo and your deodorant.

Tortured genius. What the fuck ever. Fucking cowards. Been around all kinds of 'tortured geniuses'. They're all fucking idiots that had a couple goods ideas and thought that made them Einstein. Musicians and artists are not geniuses. They are sometimes a freak of nature like an athlete, but usually just fucking idiots that just happened onto a good idea that they most likely stole from a more fucked up 'genius'.

Oh, Blind Melon! I do like Blind Melon, a lot. Not a genius. A fucking idiot.

The year was 1956 and the Swing Era(30s-40s) was long gone and Duke Ellington and hsi Band where struggling to make a living. Even playing places like an ice rink to scrape together a living.
Then a miracle happened. It was at the Newport Jazz Festival. Saxophonist Paul Gonsalves started a solo, a blonde in a tight red dress jumped up on stage and started dancing with Duke, and the crowd went crazy. They refused to leave.

Been listening to Blackstar all weekend. So shocked to hear of his passing today. The dark feel of the music and lyrics suddenly have much more meaning, knowing he was terminally ill when he created it. It's a fantastic swan song to an unparalleled career. RIP David Robert Jones.
