The correct answer is barley.

Man, that's like putting "Malt" on the Favorite Liquor thread.

Anyway, I'm planting some Gruner Veltliner Grapes this week, and some Zweigelt next week in an undisclosed location.... so.... get back to me in 3 or years and I'll have an answer to the question.

I sampled some ice wine in PA and western NY last week. That stuff was excellent (both red and white). It costs about $40 for a 375 ml (half-) bottle, though, so I didn't buy any.

Borgata casino diner hit with $3,750 bill after server recommended wine for ‘thirty-seven fifty’

The hapless New Jersey resident was ordering for a business dinner at the Bobby Flay Steakhouse inside the Borgata when he misunderstood the price point given by the waitress. He thought it would be $37.50 but it turned out to be 100 times that.

Lentini, who confesses to being clueless when it comes to wine, claims he asked the waitress for a recommendation. "She pointed to a bottle on the menu — a 2011 Screaming Eagle. I didn't have my glasses. I asked how much and she said, 'Thirty-seven fifty,'" Lentini told the website.

Chianti is far and away my #1 vint - or anything made from the Sangiovese grape in Tuscany or Napa/Sonoma. Also really enjoy Cab's and German white's as well, even a cool bubbly Moscato hits the spot on occasion. Really enjoy wine overall, except Merlot's and Champagne. Always calms the nerves.......

Martini & Rossi Sparkling Rose for New Year's Eve is a fav.

Recently tried some Beringer varieties--nothing pricey, but I'm no expert--liked them.

Actually, since you guys are posting stories about wines with commas in the price, I probably shouldn't even be replying in this thread.

(Then again, I do have Sideways on in the background right now, so there's that, plus I did the wine tasting at the Dublin Irish Festival last summer, so...no. Still not qualified to post.)

My wife says I'm not allowed to have anymore wine after my behavior during/after the Florida game.

But when she's not around, I like 9Crimes Cabernet and you can usually get it for less than a $20.
If you're looking for something for a party - I really enjoy Blackbox Cabernet (yes, in a box, don't laugh). It's quite good.
