What is Up with Bike Paths

That really is not the case down here. There is a 5 ft lane on the asphalt for a bike lane, and then there is the cement curb and gutter that extends another 10-15 in or so to the side of the road where the debris gets swept into. If you keep your bike in the lane on the asphalt, then there is no problems to which you are referring (as a recreational rider, I can attest that these lanes are safe to use even at speed). They actually designed these lanes pretty well, and there is no reason for people to not use them. Those who don't use them are usually the ones who have the $5K+ bike, spandexed out, Lance Armstrong looking people who think they own the road when they are out. It is really annoying.

Then the riders should be using that lane. I am in full agreement with you.

I especially agree with your last statement about the air of snobbery that pervades cycling.

We're all out there to get some exercise, recreational rider, serious rider, mom pulling her kids in a cart behind her mountain bike. Quit acting like some elite cat 1 rider and stop being a dick.

I wave at every other biker I pass and sometimes some of them act as if, "How dare you interfere with me when I'm in the zone."

"Fuck off" asshole cyclist.

I live in south Florida. Coral Springs area (north of Ft Lauderdale, south of Boca Raton).

There are a ton of people who cycle down here, and only about 5-10% are the snobbish type who think they are too good to ride in the bike lane. It is those 5-10% to which I want to say "Fuck off asshole cyclist".

I don't mind bicyclists much, even though I complain about them a lot. For the most part, they're pretty good where I live. (I'm talking about the adults who are out for exercise, or whatever - not the kids who live on my street who ride their bikes up and down the street, with no destination or purpose.) But what really boils my thumbtacks is when you're stopped at a light, and the bicyclist passes all the stopped cars in the narrow strip between the car and the curb (there are no bicycle lanes), and then go through the red light. Now, all the cars in the right lane need to get back into the left lane to pass these jerks, just to do it all over again at the next light.

I don't mind sharing the road. I just don't like changing lanes that often to pass the same corn-poopers so many times.

I wish we had more around here. Riding on the road with the idiots texting while driving, dialing while driving and yelling at their kids while driving makes me feel like an accident waiting to happen. And they never look when they're turning out of a side street or backing out of a driveway. I have had to bail into a yard on more than one occasion.

How the fuck is anyone enforcing a 15 mph speed limit? I'm just picturing a cop hiding in the trees with a radar gun aiming it at the bike path. :lol:

Dodging clueless walkers and kids, on the other hand, is all too common.
