What is the craziest thing you have ever seen while driving down the highway?

Hang on Sloopy
For me, once I saw a woman riding in a red corvette in the passenger side. She was wearing a nightgown and one leg was hanging out of the window. A few miles ahead, the car wrecked and went down in a gully. I was one of the first ones on the scene and had to help her and the guy driving until the paramedics arrived.

Either the aftermath of nearly simultaneous chain collisions on both the N. and S. sides of I-25 in 1996 involving about 150 total cars and a molasses truck or a barrel rolling Hummer coming right at me that I only narrowly managed to avoid with evasive action.

Friday nights, in the winter, we would drive from CT to Vermont for a ski weekend. Not unusually, we encountered bad weather and the drive time would double or even triple.
Was driving in a blinding snow storm to Vermont at night. Vertical snow.
Was barely moving. Like 34-40. Was passed by a Bimmer at 70! Bimmer did a series of 360s in front of me. Driver straightened it out and just kept going....at 70!

I work as a highway construction inspector for the state of Kansas and I've seen alot of crazy things. Back during my first year we were working on patching a asphalt crossover near a bridge replacement project. The contractor had to remove a section of the asphalt that was bad and another inspector and myself were measuring the hole for payment. While I was bent down opposite the traffic a pickup truck with two very old people in it came by very slowly. I noticed that the old man driving was watching us as they went by, but he never looked back ahead to see were he was heading. He was so intent on seeing what we were doing that he drove right off the highway and down the slope on the opposite side of the road. All the construction workers saw this and stood in amazement as in a matter of a moment we could see grass flying the air as the old man gunned his pickup and came flying back the slope and onto the highway.
On this same job later on in the day a huge woman came through the crossover just pass the workers who were holding those "SLOW" / "STOP" paddle signs. The "SLOW" side faced the oncoming traffic. Well, this woman suddenly stops in the middle of the crossover. Keep in mind this is a four lane highway with alot of traffic. When someone ran up to her car to get her to move he asked her what the problem was and see replied, " I looked in my rear view mirror and saw the man behind me with the stop sign so I stopped".

that's interesting, taos. about 15 years ago, i was driving to columbus while it was sleeting. to my direct right there was a toyota truck. behind me there was a semi. i began to fishtail at about 40 to 50 miles per hour. after about 2 or 3 small fishtails, my car did a complete 360. i didn't shift out of my lane, and i didn't lose much speed. all i remember of the 360 is seeing the truck directly in front of me and then the semi directly in front of me. i continued driving as if nothing happened.

lol lucky.. i was heading back from chicago this past winter, and idk how many of you own civics but there can be a moderate wind and i can feel it in ym car and even get pushed around in a lane on the freeway.. anyways, i missed a turn and ended up taking a detour thru Michigan. low and behold it's the only place i've been into on the drive up and back with snow.. i;m looking at a map and on the phone with the lady whos looking at google maps trying to figure out whats the best route to take now, i was making great time too. all the sudden my car fish tails twice and shoots off the road and down a big ass hill, i go spinning and slicing through a field and stop not even 5 feet from a big ass steel beam holding a sign up, not one of the flimsy ones either it would have sucked. well here i am, underage yanking beer cases out of the trunk looking for a tool to dig my civic out  and a Michigan cop pulls up. luckily he didn't ask for an ID (i look 40) but laughed at me for even trying to dig out, called a wrecker to pull me out.. no damage to the car, just killed my time. and as a result got fired from my job, Dad was boss, and fucked me for rent and bills due the next day since i was already tight on funds and it cost me 140.00 to get out. fun trip to say the least.
