What is the best Buckeye gift you ever received? (MERGED)

My best ever OSU gift was not something that any one person gave me, but rather a series of events that culminated in one of my "best days ever".

At the 1998 OSU/scUM game:
My buddy and I started out a Hineygate with a few beers and some brats. As game time approached, we went to the front of the stadium to look for tickets. You all know how much OSU/scUM tickets can cost.... We found a guy, an OSU professor, who had two extras because his wife and son couldn't make it. He said that he wasn't looking to scalp anyone for a bunch of money, and he'd sell them to us if we were honestly going to use them and not sell them ourselves. We assured him that we wouldn't dream of selling OSU/scUM tickets, and he sold them to us for $50 EACH!!!

As we were walking around to the east side of the 'Shoe to go in, we saw a Guiness van in the parking lot packing up after some tailgate promotion. My buddy stuck his head in to see what they were up to, and the guy in the van said "We've got a keg with some Guinness left in it, do you want some?" Uh, yeah! So he filled up our huge Hineygate mugs with free Guinness and hooked us up with t-shirts.

After polishing off the delicious brew, we went inside and found our seats- next to the guy who sold us the tickets- really nice guy. And the best way to top off the day- WE BEAT SCUM, 31-16!!

Definately one of the Best. Days. Ever.

Great day! There are these moments in time when the world is as we might wish it to be. When the good old karmic slot machine lines up and pays out....

This is a great thread.

I'm a band director in central Ohio, and Jon Woods is a friend, both professionally and personally. We have had a tradition for many years where he will come and guest direct at our Spring Festival. The last number is always a big, rousing "Hang On, Sloopy."

Furthermore, my students will always sneak around, collect money and present me with something.

Here (one year) they had gotten Jon's help and bought for me the leather-bound version of Script Ohio, the 110 year account of the history of the OSU Marching Band. It was personally autographed by Jack Evans, Paul Droste and Jon Woods (the three directors from 1947- ).

(To those of you who really know the band's history, there was a short time during that period where Charlie Spohn was director, but his is a tragic story.)

My mom is going to order me a replica full size ridell ohio state helmet. Today I recieved a Buckeye hat, a football that has a picture of Eddie George running away from the ND players on it, an Ohio St. t-shirt, and an Ohio St. sweatshirt. These were all from my grandma and uncle who live in Ohio and are buckeye fans too. It was a great Christmas. :oh:

I got a 2002 national championship flag signed by about50 players on the 2003 team. My sister gave me this for christmas two years ago. Then last year right before I went to Iraq my sister gave me an ohio state flag that was addressed to me and was signed by Jim Tressel. Did I mention I love my sister
