What is the Best Board Game Ever?

My nephew loves Monopoly, but there is rarely enough time for a full game. The Monopoly card game is quite good as an alternative, and a game only takes about 15 minutes. You need three sets of properties to win, but people get sidetracked going after high-value properties or a big bank. And it's just good ol' fashioned fun, charging a 12-year-old exorbitant rent two cards in a row, and then taking his final remaining set to win the game, all in one turn.

Explanation Of Board Game Rules Peppered With Reassurances That It Will Be Fun

SCHENECTADY, NY—Repeatedly seeking to ease his friends’ growing skepticism and disinterest, local man Joel Mayhew peppered his explanation of the rules of the board game Pandemic with reassurances that it will be fun, sources confirmed Friday. “I know you’ll really like it once we actually get going,” said Mayhew, flipping through the game’s instructions to clarify the rules while pausing frequently to promise that the game was much less complicated than it seemed. “Okay, so, basically, once you’ve completed the movement part of your turn, one option is to give or take a city card from another player. You’ll get the hang of it, I swear. Although—and don’t worry if you forget this part, because I can just remind you—you can only share a city card with a player who’s already in the same city as you. Seriously, you’re going to be addicted after we’ve played through the whole thing a few times.” At press time, two of Mayhew’s friends had abandoned the game, and he was hastily reassuring those who remained at the table that it was actually more fun with fewer players.

My 7 year old just got the electronic Monopoly with the bank cards. This version plays faster than the original. Once a property is purchased, a house is on it. If someone lands on your property, the rent goes up to the next level (up to level five.) Even landing on your own property increases the rent level. Once the entire color set is owned, rent for each property goes up one, even if the set isn't owned entirely by one person. There are ways to decrease rent, exchange properties with another player, and location spaces which allow you to pay to move your game piece to any property you choose (you could choose to move your piece to a property you already own just to raise the rent.) Each player's money, properties that they own and the rent levels are kept by the electronic device, which is nice. In fact, pretty much everything is done using the electronic component, which is pretty neat.

I wish that the electronic version was just like the original, only with the bank cards instead of cash but this version isn't a terrible alternative for those looking for a quicker game.

This game would come out, and fights would soon follow. Good times with the family.
