Pretending I'm a pleasant person is exhausting.

Rehab nurses tell me that doing work chores and things like housekeeping are not exercise because they are not usually done in long enough sequences.
The wife disagrees and says she has read many times where housekeeping is a form of exercise.
True or false.
Is there a fitness expert here?

Tell her that if she wants housework to be considered exercise, then sex is to be considered exercise as well. Also tell her in order to get a really good workout, each regimen must have equal time allotted. Call it cross-training.

Does it fit either definition below from m-w.com?

2
a: regular or repeated use of a faculty or bodily organ

b: bodily exertion for the sake of developing and maintaining physical fitness <trying to get more exercise>

IMO, housekeeping and yard work CAN be exercise. Is it all the time? No.

Again, though, there is the issue of working in long enough sequences.

- Your wife is telling you she's getting plenty of exercise by doing chores and housekeeping.
- Your rehab nurses are telling you that you're not getting enough exercise.

I can read between the lines.
