OK, I try to keep the heart-felt,touching moments out of my posts but I'll share a tender family moment we like here in Ga. I've incorporated a tradition I first read on another board; expounded upon it, and we've made it our own here!
I have a copy of Red Dawn, a poor depiction of a Soviet/Cuban invasion of the mountain west US region. A group of high school kids build an underground network to fight the communist invaders... Unfortunately they belong to a high school which has adopted the wolverine as their mascot.... One is treated to wolverine jackets, signature grafitti, and similar ilk. Either way, we watch the portion showing the emerging wolverine "freedom" fighters then fast-forward to warm/fuzzy parts. Sure enough, the kids , one-by-one, become casualties to the ruthless cubans/soviets... In a sure-fire bonding, we cheer on the deaths!!!! Perhaps the most touching for me is a scene where Jennifer Grey, (the jailbait love-interest of Patrick Swayze and baby from Dirty Dancing..) is gut-shot & suffering miserably! She begs her love (Patrick S.) to end her misery by shooting her. (headshot we presume...) My 10 year old always shouts out= NO! Let Her SUFFER!!!! It's such a sweet moment that only Buckeye parents could appreciate!
In the end, the 2 brother/ring-leaders are caught in a trap of-sorts, Patrick S. ends up carrying his brother's body away due to the sentimental soft-hearted cuban commander's incompetance! We cheer on the inevitable death!!!!
Then we have a group - hug, chanting F-Bomb Mic$%^an!!
Treasured moments with your family come but once, but with DVD's/VCR's the death of wolverines come whenever you want!!!!!!!!
