What Happens in January...

... If Alabama, Ohio State, Boise State, Oregon, TCU, and possibly Nebraska or Oklahoma go undefeated?

Alabama would have to be in the MNC because they're defending. But then how could there be a legitimate selection among the rest? Maybe we could cut out the non-BCS teams, but still then, it isn't really right.

I think if this scenario plays out, or even if a few of the above teams go undefeated, there will be an uproar in the college football community.

Indiana is Saturday.

Ohio State has to just worry about the team in front of them. The rest of the nonsense will sort itself out.
I'd have to agree with this post. An interesting topic but I wouldn't worry about it because it is doubtful that more than 3 of those teams will go undefeated.

If that happens, I think its likely that we'd get 2-3 BCS games that face-off undefeated teams. I could see an Oregon-Boise St. Rose Bowl and an Ohio State-Alabama NCG, not to mention a possible Nebraska-TCU Fiesta Bowl. It'd be insanity.

However, IF it happens then we'd be lucky to have witnessed something so great. Some amazing regular season match-ups await, Oregon-Arizona, Oregon-USC, Alabama-LSU, Alabama-Auburn, Nebraska-Texas, TCU-Utah, TCU-Air Force. Not to mention the Big-12 and SEC title games. As of now, we are 4 and 5 games into the season. I'm not super concerned about the quantity of undefeated teams.

They'll be some massive raging, however I think we're getting ahead of ourselves here a little bit.

Going into this weekend for instance we had 25 undefeated teams, now we have 18 and will have no more then 16 at the end of next weekend.

Typically this sort of thing works itself out, although last year we had Bama, Texas, Cincy, Boise and TCU undefeated, the difference was 3 of those teams schedules were not like the others.

It's pretty unlikely someone is going to be able to run the table in the SEC, Big Ten, Pac 10 AND Big 12. Those leagues are too good, conference play hasn't been going on long enough to get too worried yet.

Boise State and TCU are going to be behind undefeated winners of those 2 leagues which makes them non-factors atm.

Ohio State (most likely), Oregon or Oklahoma/Nebraska would play in the BCS title game against Alabama.

If Boise State wins their bowl (regardless of who they play...but probably Oregon in the Rose) they'll be voted AP Champs.

They still would have to gain a lot of ground in the AP poll. Only 1 first place vote as it is and they got jumped by Oregon this week.

Or Ohio State/Northwestern or even Michigan/Northwestern if you want hypothetical lols

There can be a maximum of 7 undefeated at the end of the year the way things stand now

This is what is great about college football. You never know where an upset will happen and create a massive shake-up. Like 2007 when we ended up playing in the NC game. We were first and the polls chose who they thought who we should play. Which 2 loss team plays the 1 loss Buckeyes (1 loss Kansas had played themselves out of conversation with a weak schedule and losing late). We had a terrible schedule that year and lost to ILL. The two loss teams I remember were OK(who was screwed in OR that year), LSU, USC, WVU, Georgia, VT, Missouri, and Arizona State.

College football is different than the NFL. Every game matters. Style points matter some (this is another topic). I love every week because anything can happen. I have followed football for almost 30 years and every year the "best " team doesn't always win the title. All it takes is overlooking 1 team and title hopes are shot.

Isn't it fantastic watching things play out!!!

This is a lie. What is the difference of winning every game by 50 or losing every game if you are Boise State? The system basically says if you don't start out in the top 10 or have a 50 years of history your wins mean S#!T

That is incorrect for several reasons.

1. If it was all about "history", TCU would be higher.

2. If you don't think every game matters for EVERYONE, go ahead and have your team lose a couple.

3. Being in the top 10 at the beginning of the year doesn't always mean an automatic ticket. Case in point, 2002 or 2007. in 2002 Ohio State started 13th. In 2007, Arkansas was #1 followed by Mizzou. If those teams didn't immediately shit the bed theyw ould have been in the MNC game.
