I am trying to root for Michigan right now. I don't know if I can do this. I feel uncomfortable and sick, like some dude that I've been playing fooseball against asks me to go back to "his"place. I might puke.

Well, I tried to stay calm and hope for a good Big Ten showing... but I was a little too far from the screen to see the picture clearly... and red is just a little too close to scarlet... I actually felt physically ill watching that game. (Could be the after effects of a migraine, but I'm pretty sure it was scUM.) Didn't want to root against the Big Ten, though... so I left.

Cognitive dissonance strikes again.

I root for the Div. I want the Big Ten to look good as a tough conference. But as far as tonight's game I only want them to win by 10 :wink2:

I've given this some deep thought and I've come to the conclusion that it's always best for the B10 in OOC games - except scUM.

It's great to have a strong conference for bragging rights and to push the SOS up just in case you have a close finish like this year. But not that great...

First - tOSU has such a big fan base that it will almost always win a better bowl just because of the revenue. Just ask ND about that luxury.

Second - I'm tired of scUM recruiting out of our backyard so successfully. I want to see more Krenzels coming south than Manninghams going north.

Third - scUM will always be a great program - just like tOSU, Texas, ND, Texas, Miami, etc. They may falter for a few years (see Cooper) but they'll always bounce back. Did Cooper ruin the 90s for scUM?

Fourth - Kids growing up watching OSU drop to scUM annually tend to become scUM fans. Kids growing up watching scUM dropping to tOSU and losing bowl games tend to be tOSU fans.

Lastly - Fuck Michigan.

(EDIT: they're not quite as bad as "America's Team" tho...)

I root for the Big 10 in bowl games. That includes Michigan. I want the Big Ten to have a 7-0 record. But if they only have a 6-1 record, I want that 1 to be Michigan.

But it was pretty neat that they lost to Nebraska. I have a friend who is a Michigan "fan." (Are any Michigan "fans" truely fans?) She HATES Nebraska. She hates them even more than Ohio State. I think she became a Michigan "fan" during the 1997 season, and hates that Nebraska "stole" Michigan's undisputed national championship.
