Had high hopes for this book as an escape from noise is often a search I find myself pursuing. Topic was interesting, but didn't like the writing style. I've grow tired of these topical books that follow a narrative of how the author explored the topic...too often, the writer gets distracted from the topic and you have to follow those distractions, which I find to be a frustrating read.

I'm currently reading Disney War by James Stewart, and have Married to the Mouse, and Mousecatraz in line to read after that.

Yes, I have a slight Disney obsession. After I exhaust these books, I'll be rounding up the good books that I can find on Celebration.

Stephen King's "Just After Sunset", a collection of short stories

I used to read everything by SK but kind of trailed off around 2000. But after getting "Under the Dome" as a gift and really enjoying it, I have since read "Duma Key", "Lisey's Story", "Full Dark, No Stars" and now this. It seems like he's really been re-energized in the past few years and been putting out some good stuff again. "The Dark Tower" was pretty cool, but SK is a horror writer and I just couldn't follow him down that fantasy road.

Best.
Series.
Ever.

To each his own, of course, but the ridiculousness of the riddle-war on the crazy-train in "The Waste Lands" pretty much derailed my own journey to the center of the King universe.

As for other great series, I'll admit to loving the Harry Potter-verse, but the Aubrey/Maturin "Master & Commander" and the "Flashman" books are truly excellent historical-fiction series too.

I wasn't offering a counter-point. Just noting how much I love that series. Truthfully, I was intrigued by the riddle war. It was the 6-year-long wait between Waste Lands and Wizards and Glass that nearly killed it for me.

I haven't read any of those. I may have to do so.

How did I not know of this collection's existence? That will be next in my list.
