I just finished "The Know-It-All : One Man's Humble Quest to Become the Smartest Person in the World" by the same guy...

Here's what's I will be reading on the road trips this fall:

Started this one but decided to read Dr. Denis Leary's new book instead.

Never read anything by her...supposedly this book was sort of the foundation for M. Night Shamalamadingdong's new movie "Devil".
Don't let the West Chester NAACP know you are reading this. They tried to sue Lakota-West HS for performing "Ten Little Indians" as a fall play, b/c a first edition of the book published in Britain in 1920 or so was called "Ten Little N@#$%#s.

This is a very, very interesting book. There is no doubt the Army acted in a completely shameful and dishonorable manner regarding Tillman's death and subsequent coverrup, but at the same time Tillman comes off as someone who enjoyed pushing society's buttons, in a roundabout way. I will not criticize a fallen combat veteran, but, anyway, read the book and decide for yourself.

I just picked back up Against the Day by Thomas Pynchon, which I didn't finish before. It reads like a person trying to write like Pynchon, rather than Pynchon. I guess it does sound like him from an evolutionary perspective: he just loves his historical play as he gets older. . .

Enthralling. Just finished the guilt proceedings and am about to start the penalty trial. Almost finished, and would recommend to anyone with a slight interest in knowing more about Manson, the Family and the crimes. I like the perspective from the prosecuting attorney, not totally objective, but overall great book.

Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day.

The European Peasant Bread (in boule form) is the best bread I have ever tasted. Even better, I can make it for under 75 cents a "loaf" and it doesn't have anything in it besides flour, yeast, salt, and water. Of course, you do need a pizza stone...

Awesome book. I'm a big fan of true crime stories. That was maybe the best I've read.

I read this book, because Kaizer Soze (The Usual Suspects) is remotely modeled off of a couple considerations in the book. Ultimately, it's another dumb ass Michigan Man who gets busted.
