A Soldier's Story, by Omar Bradley.

I don't read a lot of real-life military books, but this is a good read. It follows his WWII experiences from '43 until '45.

I read that as well. Lent it to someone and never got it back.

R.I.P. Uncle Omar

BB, I can't thank you enough for the copy of uncle Omar's book. You are a great American.

Pfft. You had to wait almost 32 hours from the time you mentioned on BP that somebody never returned your copy until you received another one.

Just paying it forward.

My copy of this is coming today... no idea where it will fall in the queue [/quote]

Made an executive decision - moved this to the front of the line. Got through half last night - it's as entertaining as DC or A&D...

Agreed. Also halfway through. Looking forward to seeing how this one wraps up.

Finished it up last night - another fun, very well researched read. Same forumla as the other blockbusters by Brown, but that's not necessarily a bad thing... I'm sure DC-area tourism will increase in the same way that visitors to Roslyn Chapel and other now-infamous Robert Langdon locations. If you liked the others you will like this one just as much.

Anyone who's ever worked in a cubicle or a corporate environment or experienced the general fear of layoffs can appreciate this book, kind of a high-literary counterpart to "Office Space". Lots of funny passages and situations--I virtually never laugh-out-loud when reading a book, and this one has me keeping my wife awake with my frequent giggling. Plus, I think it's the first book I ever read with first-person-plural narrative, very unique.

Dan Brown definately has a formula that he sticks to, but it works. This was probably my second favorite of his Robert Langdon books...ahead of 'The DaVinci Code', but just barely behind 'Angels and Demons'.

The Anglo Files, a Field Guide to the British

Funny at times, always interesting, and a pretty accurate look at our closest allies from American eyes.
