What book are you currently reading, or recommend?

My reading is kind of light right now as I am only working to two books: the Odyssey and an informative history on Medieval Europe.

Light reading? :)

I still consider light reading to be, ""How about this leaflet; Famous Jewish Sports Legends?"

I am reading Villa Incognito by Tom Robbins right now. It is light reading. . .

I just finished the Da Vinci Code, a very entertaining book. However, I liked Angels and Demons more.

I'll start another book (probably another Dan Brown novell) after I move into my new house this weekend.

Are you reading Homer's "The Odysess"?
Yes, for the last year or so I have been into reading the "classics" and since it has been about 12 years since I last read Homer's Odyssey I figured it would be good to approach it again.

Kinch,
I guess I said "light" since I am only reading two books instead of the 3-4 I usually have going, I've read one of these books before, and the history book is more of a road map to Medieval Europe than any in-depth analysis of the period.

I figured that's what you meant but it looked funny to me. :)

Clarity mentioned recently that he was reading Ulysses and other books (this might be classics in a different sense the Odyssey and others).

That is one of those things I always say I am going to do but never do. I think a lot of people, like me, plan on reading great works, sometimes very difficult and/or non-exciting ones, but never do. Cheers on doing it. . .

Everything by A.M. Homes, The Anatomy of Melancholy by Robert Burton, Empire Falls by Richard Russo, The Life of Thomas More by Peter Ackroyd, and Bleachers by John Grisham.

Plus I still have Cows by Matthew Stokoe here, and need to take a fourth attempt at getting into that one.

Clarity - I just "discovered" Richard Russo earlier this year. Loved both Empire Falls and Straight Man. Currently working on The Risk Pool.

I am also doing some 'pre-election' reading with "Plan of Attack" (following up "Bush at War" and The "Price of Loyalty" - if there is anything out there on Kerry I would love to know what it is - that chunk of pulp by the Boston Globe is unreadable trash).

Just finished "Afghanistan: A Military History from Alexander the Great to the Taliban". Great read to get a sense of what we are up against in the region and one of the more pleasant reads of that kind of material I have seen in some time.

(Being semi-retired I both enjoy and finally have the time for reading.)
