I just went to gamestop and traded in some of my old games. A note to fellow BPers that they are running a promotion where you receive and additional 50% on your trade-ins, pretty sweet deal. I picked up MLB The Show, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and Heavy Rain. Heavy Rain has gotten pretty good reviews on ign anyone here given it a go?

Anything good in the pre-order stage? Looking for a gift for my father, who buys everything within a few weeks of release, so I need to beat the clock. The types of games mentioned in this thread work - I know he likes stuff like the Call of Duty and Bioshock series.

Are we talking 360 or PS3?

So I assume he owns Bad Company 2 that came out on Mar 3? It's a pretty big release, but it's not quite on par with Call of Duty so there's a chance he didn't get it (especially if he thought it was too similar to Modern Warfare 2. It looks very similar but has a very different feel and style of play).

I want to see some reviews first, but Just Cause looks like it could be a ton of fun and different than most games out there.

Biggest upcoming 360 game: Alan Wake | 18 May 2010
May 18th is a big day:
Lost Planet 2
Alan Wake

Both heavily anticipated titles. The former is a very fun shooter set outside in the cold wilderness with vehicles, grappling hooks, etc.

The latter could be a very original adventure exploring a new world and creatively using flashlights.

Some other options that won't sell a million copies:
Just Cause 2
3/23 release date

Game Room comes out on 3/24
It is an arcade room for your avatar (user) where you can add tons of classic arcade games (pacman, centipede, etc) to your room to play, maybe even with friends. I'm not sure if you can pre-order anything for that, most of that would be purchased via marketplace points, those 1600 pt cards you see in best buy and such. There are almost no deals on those (if you find one, it's like 5% off).

Nerd.

Picked up MLB the Show... I suck at it, so i will either pratice or trade it right in lol

I can deal with being a nerd :) I work IT, I live in my moms basement and wear the thickest fucking glasses you have ever seen, seriously, instead of making new weapons they should take the lenses in my glasses, make them really large then burn countries from afar like little ants.

Anyways...

I have played all of the FF series, I am not a big fan of turn based games, but I find the story usually makes up for it, not to mention all the hidden shit and side quests.

So far, 10 hours in, this game has had no side quests, no way to deter from the main story line and some of the worst dialogue I have ever heard. But the story is overall pretty interesting.

I've done that, it's just not quite the same without the original controller.

I felt the same way. About 8 years ago I started missing my old NES, and it didn't seem like emulators really gave you the same feel, even with a USB controller. It's more fun to have the carts, the Duck Hunt gun, Power Glove, Track and Field pad, the whole shabang

You can pickup an NES deck for about $30 or less at a flea market if you're not swindled. Thats what I did and started picking up my old games. Then I started picking up games I used to rent and played at friend's houses. Then I just started collecting. I've got over 600 different NES games now, it's been more fun finding them sometimes than playing them.

Anyway, right now I'm playing Fallout 3 off and on with different mods, I dusted off Gran Turismo 4 Sunday and started a new file on my PS3 for that. I'm also playing Borderlands with my buddy, first time for me, 2nd playthrough for him.

A few months ago I dusted it off for the first time in 4.5 years (that hated Steam system - which almost ruined CS online play - really came up big since I have no idea where my original game disc is). I played it for a couple weeks, enjoyed it, but haven't picked it up since.
