What are you currently watching on TV?

Not until tomorrow night, but planning to check out the new series Time After Time on ABC. It's based on the film of the same name in which H. G. Wells is unknowingly friends with Jack the Ripper, who then appropriates Wells' working model time machine to escape capture, ultimately disembarking in modern America. Wells pursues him. Mayhem ensues.

Also rather intrigued by the FX series premiering tomorrow called Feud: Bette and Joan. It's based on Davis and Crawford in the twilight of their careers, filming Whatever Happened to Baby Jane? With a cast led by Jessica Lange as Joan Crawford, Susan Sarandon as Bette Davis, and Stanley Tucci as Jack Warner, it has the potential to be quite a romp.

I like the plot of the first one, and the cast of the second.

The Magicians season 2 on SyFy: this is a really good fantasy show. Gets right into the action, unlike season 1 which had to build up the characters and backstory, but it is probably pretty hard to follow without having seen season 1. This season gets an impressive 88/critics 91/audience on Rotten Tomatoes.

Just watched S.1 on Netflix. It is a cut above.

watched the first episode of Santa Clarita Diet. Not for me.

We did finish the second season of Bloodline on Netflix last night. Great show! Also agree with the others about Sneaky Pete.

Billions (Showtime) is pretty solid.

I'm also re-watching Boardwalk Empire from the beginning when I get a free hour here and there.

Watching Prison Break on Netflix after hearing great things about it. Binged Season 1 over the weekend and i'm hooked. Need to hurry up and finish 2-4 so I can watch the comeback season starting in a couple weeks.
The mid to late 00s were an epic era for TV. I've yet to find one current comedy (or humorous drama) that comes within miles of the the top 6-8 on this list. The best I've found come close to later offerings of American Dad or It's Always Sunny when we stopped watching. There sure are a lot of grisly, grim offerings though.

Most of these are available for streaming:

Prison Break (05-09)
House (04-12)
Fringe (08-12)
Arrested Development (03-13)

The Office (05-13)
30 Rock (06-13)
Friday Night Lights (06-11)
Chuck (07-11)
Parks and Recreation (09-15)
Community (09-15)

Monk (02-09)
Psych (06-12)
Burn Notice (07-13)
White Collar (09-14)

American Dad (05)
The Colbert Report (05-13)
Curb Your Enthusiasm (2000-ongoing)
It's Always Sunny (05-ongoing)

Criminal Minds (05-ongoing)
NCIS (03-ongoing)

Lost (04-10) - didn't watch this but people went nuts over it.

True for so many of those, but especially these two. Back in the days of waiting all week to watch a new episode, those silly USA detective shows were always worth the wait.

Also since you're including basic cable, there's The Shield (2002-08), which was a truly great show.

And Kiefer's 24 was amazing TV for a handful of years: that was actually my first binge-watching show ever (using Blockbuster Online DVD-by-mail), but I can't imagine it's nearly as good for a rewatch today.
