WestEnd
look ma no shoelaces, and I'm down with the KIIING
So I was wondering if someone out there who is more knowledgeable than I am in could tell me what those little clicking noises that come from inside my computer are. You know, the rapid fire little clicks that go off (especially in older computers) when you are trying to do a few things at the same time.
Is it my hard drive? That's really the only thing that I can think of in my computer that would have moving parts. Obviously, these clicks are not the low whirr that comes from the cooling fan.
The reason I ask is because I am starting to get fed up with the poor performance of my laptop. Despite my best intentions (de-frag, registry cleaner, keeping my hard drive only about 1/2 full) my computer is just SO much slower than it used to be.
I am considering re-formatting my hard drive, but don't want to waste all the time and effort only to find out that the only way to get that new computer speed is to buy a new hard drive. Could it be a software thing that would warrant me trying to re-install windows first?
Or is it a hardware thing that will only get better with a new hard drive?
Anyone help would be GREATLY appreciated.
