Wham demands to know what went wrong, repeatedly

LJB left off the " " symbols that these sayings that 17/18 year olds hear from various sources/parents/mentors/coaches/hostess'/uncles... It's a mad, mad, mad, mad, world.
Thanks guys. I was just wondering if anyone had some insight as in Ohio State backed out or they just got out hustled by others. Worried about the depth and its quality going forward.

very quiet lately. Opinions seem to favor Florida by a big marjin now. Did we sleep on this guy and lose him, as well?
Just curious. As a general observation I have noticed your tendency to assign blame to the coaching staff if a player doesn't chose tOSU saying things like "did we sleep on this guy" and such. Not trying to single you out but I've noticed it in the threads of various recruits. Do you have any idea how much time the staff spends away from their families by physically chasing (flying all over the country) and symbolically chasing (calling, texting, emailing) 15-18 year old kids? I can tell you that it is a work load that not many men or their families could handle. So why then do you want to blame them if these pre-adults don't chose tOSU? Is it possible that it has nothing to do with the effort by the staff and is just a kid being a kid or, heaven forbid, they actually like another school better or simply feel the other school will be a better fit? Lastly, if this staff doesn't impress you with their recruiting prowess you will never, ever be satisfied. Be a Buckeye. But be thankful. We are in our golden years. You do realize that right?

The circumstances have changed significantly at his suitors. Even if they didn't, sometimes recruitments just go sideways. We You don't need to play the emotional blame game every time recruitments take a turn.

I praise the coaches when they bring results and I am not happy when they go from clear leader on a recruit to "losing" that lead and trail, which means very likely they won't get that kid when that happens from observations over the years. Happy ...they are great...when success...not happy blame...when failure ...sounds like the average fan to me. I bet you never blamed them for anything right?
Btw median income per person in the US is $27000. Meyer makes $6,500,000. Fickle $600,000, Ash about $700,000. They are well compensated for their hard work. Most of us would be willing to work 80 hour weeks if we made that much at least for few years, and some of us spend weeks always from our families and make a portion of that salary. That salary is possible because we are fans. Without fans, they would have different jobs. So it is probably ok to hold them accountable for a couple of failures here and there, especially when we know they could have done better. Thank you for keeping an eye on my trends. I appreciate you take the time to read my notes.

Since we know, what specifically should have been done differently?

Yeah. I figured I had you pegged as an entitled fan alright. Especially given your comments in the Jordan Fuller thread etc etc etc. You buy tickets, and swag and by golly that staff makes away with all your dough and you want results!

Hey how about that Victor kid huh? Some school is going to be lucky to have him. But they might have to bring an eye of newt, a Ouija board, blood, sweat, tears, their souls, a bag man, a three toed sloth, a unicorn, a ship that only sails one way and do this on the dark of the moon on a leap year during a 25th hour on a day that the coach magical creates.

Until that happens I'd say Urban and the staff will pursue Victor and the rest on their board with the vigor of the elite competitors they are. Of course I'm sure he would love your help Wham if you have some spare time. But a word of caution, you won't have much time for BP, a healthy lifestyle, a family, etc. But, if your ready to bring your A game and think you can still balance a normal life, effectively recruit and still actually run the current program and coach.... well buddy I bet he would love to get your resume. Good luck!

You're just the worst. So pessimistic it's unreal. Not every recruit loves ohio state and just because Urban makes a crap load of money doesn't mean he should always be #1. You do realize he is recruiting against 10 other coaches who are in the ball park as far as pay, abilities, and resources right? Just relax.

We will get who we get and we won't get who we wont.

While I do not think you have violated the recruiting forum rules (although you are coming very close with insulting other users and using language like "failures") and you have the right to be critical of the staff, all you have been is critical lately. You know what might warrant salaries like that? Being 49-4 as a staff under Meyer (excluding Ash, he is already recruiting for Rutgers and has both feet out the door), 4-0 against TSUN, winning a national title in the first playoff system, and most salient to your perpetual complaints, obtaining what is currently the #1 recruiting class in the country.

I'm not going to comb through every commit's thread to see if you noticed the guys we do have, but we have an outstanding recruiting class. Furthermore, we would not ordinarily even have a shot at prospects like Victor if not for the efforts of the staff. To wit, we are still firmly in the mix and many still feel Victor will end up here. I still like where we are at with him and the inability to have a recruit or the staff on speed dial for updates does not bother me. I hate to use elementary language to say this, but chill out. Trust the staff. We're recruiting at an elite level, enjoy it.
