West Virginia/JUCO/C.W. Post/Kean RB Jason Gwaltney (official thread)

Rivals $

Jason confirms many of the news from today stating that his family is against him going far away for school. He also states a preference to play in a Pro-Set I formation as opposed to the shotgun spread. JG says that the Ohio State allegations do not worry him at all. He is still torn between the same three schools and expects all coaches this week.

Does that mean he likes or dislikes us? We ran a shot-ginn, but it seemed like he realized we did some things this year due to a lack of a running game. Also, I'm assuming USC is a spread formation, right?

Looks like the rest of us are gonna be livign on this board for quite sometime.

The line that would be "honest" that Petey could feed Gwaltney is that Chris Wells is one of the best junior RBs in the nation and seems primed to join tOSU next year. He would admit that they will probably take Chane Moline but he will be moved to FB.

So I could see a way to convince JG that tOSU actually will have less playing time for him in 06.
Isn't Wells leaning toward scUM?

USC is a spread.

Tressel wants to run out of the I. Couldn't at the beginning of this year, but with Dionte Johnson back there, and with the way the line came together, the I will be back.

I've said this a thousand times regarding this issue. The knock on USC's offense this year was that it didn't give it's Heisman Trophy hopeful (Reggie Bush) enough touches. They are going to throw to set up the run and they are going to run out of a single back set.

Jason Gwaltney isn't going to get 25 touches a game at USC and he's going to be sitting for two years, IMO. Everyone is so sure that Bush and White are going pro after next season. Ask anyone with half a brain at this time last year what Matt Leinart was going to do this year and they'll tell you he's going to be the number one pick in the draft. He's coming back and I think that Bush and/or White will be back as well.

Wow - another year, another OSU-USC recruiting "battle". OSU fans should be wise to the game by now, but alas a lot of us are still getting suckered in. If they had this going on in Vegas I'd bet the house on SC. There's more of a chance of Clarett playing for the Bucks next year than Gwaltney.

BuckeyeFROMscUM, your signature graphic kicks butt. Let's just hope that its also prophetic...

If Gwaltney really wants to "run out of the I", then it's Ohio State hands down. Even Gary Danielson was complaining about us running the I formation in the fourth quarter against Michigan when we were trying to run down the clock. The I is our basic run formation.

I agree that at least one of them will come back for his senior season. But JG would get some carries that year. Not many.
I just got a cold streak up my spine, thinking of Dionte and Jason lined up in the backfield. Makes me think of Nicky Sualua and Eddie George all over again. All we would need is an Orlando Pace.

It looks like we are being played again! He tells OSU and WVU what they want to here, and is straight with USC.

Ex..On OSU and WVU updates, he says distance is a factor, playing time is a factor, and the allegations don't bother him. On USC updates, he says he's will to wait to start as a sophomore, distance isn't a factor, and the allegations against OSU bother him.. OSU and WVU are being played! JMO
