West Virginia/JUCO/C.W. Post/Kean RB Jason Gwaltney (official thread)

looks promising

From BSB:

With all of his official visits complete, Gwaltney reflects on what he sees as the perfect situation for him.

Gwaltney said the perfect school would have great weather, isn't loaded at running back, has great coaches and is in the middle of the country," said Gwaltney. "That's basically it; that's the perfect school for me.

he said the problem is, you're not going to find any warm weather schools in the middle of the country with a laugh.

Gwaltney hints that USC may be too far away for him to go to school. He also talked about some of the aspects in staying close to home.

Gwaltney said the major thing is trouble. "When you stay close to home, you tend to come back and do the same things you did when you were in high school. A lot of people's opinions of you change when you're successful, and that's not good – you don't want to be around that."
Thart is some great news to start off my day :).

Well, Gwaltney, Wilson, Worthington and maybe Ashley are the ones fans will be asking the most about. If they can keep Worthington and get Gwaltney and either Wilson or Ashley that would be a good finish. My odds on Gwaltney 60-40 Ohio State, but I've been wrong before.

There's a post over on the USC board asking:

"What good RB recruits is USC still in on now that Stewart and Marlon Lucky are going elsewhere?"

I don't know if it's a knock on them, but there is little to NO discussion about JG over there.

Extreme confidence or apathy?

In all honesty, I have noticed much of the same over there. I think they just look at Gwaltney as another big time recruit whom if they get, great, but if they don't well they have Bush and White... or the other guys they are bringing in. However, at tOSU we don't belittle our recruits. We view one of them as having a huge importance to our team and Jason would have a tremendous impact. Jason would be much more appreciated if he were to attend The Ohio State University. We won't take him for granted.

I am curious if any of the regular BP posters got to sit in on the AOL chat that Jason held last Wednesday afternoon? This is when he officially changed the announcement day to Feb 1st.. Since that happened I am pretty confident it was him in the chat room..

If you were in the room with him, IMO, he sounded in favor of TOSU... I think other positives have come out since that chat took place as well..

That being the case, I would not bet the farm, but maybe a chicken or two on him being a Buckeye...

I agree with Duane's 60% odds...

A little more about the Rivals update...

USC and OSU are still ahead of WVU, but he was reminded by Coach Rodriguez of a few "other reasons" why he originally commited to WVU. Pete Carroll is visiting on Tuesday, JT on Wednesday, and a bunch of WVU coaches on Thursday. He says he is definitely ready for Signing Day to be here, and hopes to know where he is going by the end of the week.

That just goes to show how the information from various sites can conflict. Scout has been reporting that JT already had his in-home. JT having the final visit is a huge advanatge with JG

How on earth WVU could still be in it playing in that weak conference.

I know they can't help where they play, but JG has said that he wants a national stage and early PT. He'll get the early PT...against East Carolina and Rutgers (and they might lose to Rutgers).
