The alternative would have been to recognize the timeout call (which they didn't have) and assess a technical. I don't think the refs are who they should be directing their anger toward - they actually did Texas a favor.

I'm pretty sure they still had a time out left. At least, I recall the announcers saying they did.

I've followed Rick Barnes since he was at Clemson... This is his MO... great teams under achieving. He can't get it done as a coach, its all mental with him. Can't wait to hear the Tejas fans tomorrow.

Well, when there's 63 games in a tournament, mistakes will be made. I'm honestly surprised that with as many close games as there have been, more blatant misses weren't made.

Looks pretty clear to me the ref begins to wave the arm after four to get to five, then calls the five second violation in response to the timeout anyway. That ref never even got to one-thousand or mississippi or whatever he was counting. He ended at fi-.
