Fired up! Ready to go!
Glad to see there are so many competent dog owners here.
No kidding. My mother has some horror stories about some of the animals that come into her vet clinic. In fact, I just received this email from her:
> Had a call from a man in Danville who said he had just noticed that his
> dog's chain had grown into its neck and I said to get him right
> in...He walked in and I could smell the reeking dead flesh the
> minute he hit the door (it was a huge log chain around the dogs neck
> and the owner was carrying the large spike that held it to the
> ground). I came around the corner to show him which way to go and
> was shocked to see a beautiful, but neglected Golden. I wanted to
> kill. He was 3 years overdue on shots, not castrated, no heartworm
> check, unsocialized and had a huge matted ball (larger than a
> softball) under his tail but a otherwise beautiful golden.
> Sometimes my job just sucks because I can't report him and he is
> paying several hundred dollars to get the neck fixed (the dog was
> also dangerously loaded with whipworms). When I left they were
> sewing the neck up. I think the vet told him "we WILL do all of
> these things to your dog, but like it or not or you could be reported."
> The thing of it is, what's it going to go home to?
