Welcome to the Big Ten, Nebraska fans!

Welcome to the Big Ten, Nebraska fans.

Just like to start off with an important comment.

We realize you are not at fault for Trev Alberts being a douche.

That is all.

I'm also so very glad to see Indiana will now have some flexibility when choosing what day to take pictures of their stadium full of red. It used to only be when we played there.

How will they divide the conference to maintain rivalries but also still have competitive balance?

Right now, we play eight conference games a year. Each team has two designated perpetual rivals...ours are Michigan (of course) and Penn State. This means we play six of the eight others on a rotating basis, with the two teams we don't play missing us for two years.

With the addition of UNL, the conference could split into two divisions, with UNL likely outside ours (I'd guess there'd be East and West divisions, vice North and South, to keep Ohio State, Michigan, and Penn State in the same division to maintain rivalries, with UNL obviously being in the West). Even with that, each team would play the other five teams in its division leaving three other games with teams in the other division, so even if a team has its traditional rivals both in the other division, they could still play them every year.

The only real rivalry for us is Michigan...Penn State is a pseudo-rivalry. Michigan needs to maintain us and Michigan State as annual rivals (which would easily work if the East and West division layout were used). UNL would be in the West where Iowa would likely be, and thus a great annual rivalry could develop. If Missouri doesn't join, Minnesota could very well become a solid rival, it being the nearest non-bordering state in the conference.

EAST
Indiana
Michigan
Michigan State
Ohio State
Penn State
Purdue

WEST
Illinois
Iowa
Minnesota
Nebraska
Northwestern
Wisconsin

UNL would luck out in this alignment, being placed in the weaker division.

HuskerBoard.com has been great so far.

Huskerboard.com is probably one of the best non-pay websites. Rivals has a lot of insider info, but it is pay and it won't take long for it to get picked up by Huskerboard.

Thanks for all of the welcomes too...we appreciate it. I have always loved the Buckeyes personally. I can't wait to see how many Husker fans we can get into The Shoe. I also want to see how many Buckeyes make the trip to Memorial Stadium. We should be expanding to make a little more room for you.

(Not official yet but I think it is a formality)

It has not sunk in for me yet. Selfish reasons I love it. A 6 hour ride from my place can get me to a majority of the BIG 10 venues. Another plus is that I'm not going to have drop $$ into PPV games in the near future. Still have to do it this year. I have spent 150 dollars on PPV the last two years.

Scheduling??

How quickly does Nebraska get phased in? I'm hearing it is going to be aggressive and we start in 2011. Ohio State has an opening on 9/24. How will they divide the conference to maintain rivalries but also still have competitive balance?

This might be asking too much but would it be possible for you guys to move Michigan to the Saturday after Thanksgiving so we can still play on that Friday? Not sure how picky you are on being the last big 10 game every year.

Academically this is a no brainer for UNL.

I've been on the rivals and the scout boards and other Big 10 universities are welcoming us. When this gets fired up I look forward to your input on the other schools.

This year's tOSU-TSUN game, simply called The Game for us, is actually already scheduled for 11/27, after Thanksgiving. I don't see any problem with having Nebraska schedule an opponent for the day after Turkey Day.

Keeping The Game as the last regular season game on tOSU's schedule is a very important consideration - there would be an outcry if there were any attempt to change that.

Outcry is a vast understatement...I don't think there's a word in the English language that would describe the reaction.

sorry if this has already been asked (and answered).

Will there be a conference name change with the expansion?

If y'all stay at 12, naming it the Big XII would really suck.
But if y'all were to go to 14 or 16, then what?

First of all, Welcome Nebraska!

Second of all, if they tried to move the tOSU-UM game from the last game of the regular season; i would drive to Chicago, fucking cut Jim Delany's fucking throat, cut Jim Delany's fucking wrists, cut Jim Delany's fucking nose, cut Jim Delany's fucking face, and then I would fucking bury fucking Jim fucking Delany. Fuck him.

Drunk post.

Welcome, Husker Nation!!!

Remember how you felt when the Big 12 took OU/Nebraska and gave you Colorado/Nebraska?

Well, if The Game got screwed with by this new configuration (not by you, but by the conference), your feelings of frustration would be a grain of sand in the Sahara compared to the backlash that would result.

OU/Texas? Cute. It's got a nickname.

Stanford/Cal? How adorable. They have a trophy.

The game is THE game.

Welcome to the conference... it's good to have the Pelini's back in town!

If we get Texas and Texas A&M along with Nebraska, we'll be the Big10 (just 10 states instead of teams)

The problem is that once the decision was made to have a conference championship game...THE GAME...was the first casualty...even if it's the last "regular" season game...it has now been upstaged by the "money grab"..err....championship game...that's why I opposed expansion. No matter how you spin it..it will greatly devalue the Big Ten's most important asset....

But since the overlords have chosen to chase the almighty dollar..I am pleased that the Huskers are joining the conference.

WELCOME HUSKERS!

Can't remember whose idea this was, but if we grew to 16 teams, we could call ourselves:

B16 Ten

FWIW it was leroyjenkins who came up with that originally. And I would prefer a logo that embedded the "16" in the "IG". There is no doubt that jwins could come up with something better (all due respect to the fine effort by the O-zone poster).
