As for why he went there? No idea. Had to be timing - I can't remember QB situations at other top 20 teams that year.

IIRC it had something to do with being a dual sport athlete. NC State wouldn't let him play baseball. Wisconsin said they would.

Because the NC State coach didn’t like it that Wilson wanted to play baseball too. So Wilson transferred. And that coach was fired the next year.
