Week 6 Games Discussion

Interesting breakdown of Iowa-Ped State

TL;DW version
  1. Iowa will be exposed by a team that can run the ball. Ped State can't.
  2. Both teams have played complete crap up to this point in the season, but Ped State's schedule has been worse. Like... really bad.

I watched their preview of ND - Cinci last week (they chose ND, despite their stats choosing Cinci), and it amazes me... with all the power of Machine Learning, and they admit to just feeding it the usual box score stats we've had for decades.
Basektball and Baseball have had major stat revolutions. I understand why that hasn't happened on paper for football given the complexity, but what a waste of the ML platform.
The first team to put all22 tape under ML -- and do it right -- is going to find a ton of advantages.
These guys can't even be bothered to feed it the drives or play-by-play. They just give it avg rushing stats and the final score. Why even bother at that point?

Anyone understand why the Stanford equipment staff fill the cleats with lead and concrete?

Not sure why you’re asking why when there’s no evidence that this is happening. You seem to be leaping to the conclusion that it’s the Stanford equipment staff who’s at fault. Isn’t it possible that someone else fills their shoes with lead? And where do you get the idea that they use concrete? The evidence points only to lead and/or possibly tungsten, yet here you are leaping to more conclusions.

Yeah I use to like them but IMO they could be much much better if they actually were statistics nerds. They've become increasingly opinionated on Twitter too which if you're going based off of stats you just aren't supposed to do.
