Week 4 Game Discussion Thread

I think the one little thing that bothers me about the ending of the Iowa game vs. the cheaters is that as soon as the referee called it a touchdown, the boss referee guy can be heard on the speaker saying that they wanted to review it. I mean - it was the right thing to do, to review that play. But when else do you see the referee say that so quickly? Don't they need to wait for the replay booth to "buzz down"?

It doesn't bother me too much, because like I said, it was the right thing to do. Under normal circumstances, I'd rather the referees get it right, and the sooner the better. I just found it a little odd that the ref's like, "whoa! that was weird - we better hurry up and review that to see if we can save the cheaters."

It was the end of the game, and he knew it was close, plus don't they review every TD and turnover, anyway? I think he just wanted to clear it up before players and fans started making a mess of leaving the field/stands. Basically a quick "don't go anywhere, we're going to take a look at this to be sure."

Maybe. Again, I think it was the right thing to do. Maybe that's the disturbing thing: the Big Ten officials did something right?
