I’ve stated it before, but I actually like Deion and the Buffs, and hope they do well.
To me, there’s so much hypocrisy spewed at him that is so over the top, it comes across as hatred.
Is Colorado overhyped? Yes. They’ll prob have 5-6 losses this year. That said, they also probably have the best QB in CFB (at least from NFL talent perspective) and multiple playmakers.
I was bummed to see they have zero offensive line to run-block, because Dallas Hayden was a nice pickup for them. Dallan did make some nice plays but mostly bottled up in backfield in the run game.
I also think Deion tries to pad Shedeur’s stats which comes at the expense of their playcalling in critical situations. Also, they took a shot deep downfield on first down in 4th Q, with 1:40 on the clock on 1st and ten with NDSU only having 2 TO’s. That incomplete pass forced Colorado to punt ball back with 38 seconds. 3 runs and the game woulda been over but Deion wanted Shedeur over 500+ yards and a potential added TD. It’s how you end up like Miami last year and Mario Cristobal yourself.
Anyways, I think it’s somewhat comical Deion gets ripped for running off a bunch of kids from the original Colorado roster that was arguably one of the worst in PAC-12 history, and brings in upgrades at nearly every position and everyone cries foul.
What have FSU and Michigan been doing for 3+ years?? Mike Norvell is being lauded by every analysts for “changing the culture” in Tallahassee when all he did was target old-ass Covid year players to replace the marginal talent there. Michigan also didn’t exact same thing, on top of cheating, while Harbaugh also gets credit for changing the culture in Michigan.
I’m not sure how Harbaugh and Norvell largely get credit for turning the tides of their programs, while Deion gets crucified for following the same formula…..but being less discreet about it….”I ain’t hard to find”. Let’s not forget Novell only won 3 games in his first year as well…..
I also think (and I’m not even religious myself) that Deion’s faith and how brash he is about it, pisses a lot of the media off….it makes him unlikeable in their eyes. How can a guy this over the top and who-centric, also be praising god and Jesus every other sentence. JMO….but I pull for the Buffaloes and hope they do good things this year. Sheddeur is actually a stud QB but I agree they’re a one trick pony since they can’t run the ball and their defense is average to poor. Their one hope, is with so many transfers along both the offensive and defensive lines, is they could gel in the coming weeks…..I kinda hope they do and Dallas puts together a solid season for them.
