Week 0 Games Discussion

I dont know why service academies insist on playing football in FBS. The other sports are in an FCS conference.
The recruiting just isn't there, and unlike scUM and Harbaugh complaining about recruiting limits - service academies have a lot of limitations on who they can get in and what they can do after graduating.
The policy over going to NFL, NBA, MLB is ever changing, never straightforward, and frequently presents issues for their team.

They hang in there though… I know it’s an issue of being outmatched but there’s ways to throw the ball occasionally too.

Drives me crazy that they don’t attempt some sort of pass. A play action would be wide open.

So NDs offense is run the ball, swing pass, tunnel screens, 8 yard hitches and an occasional seam throw.

In other words they have zero downfield ability.

Should go great for them when they play an athletic and big defense.

There's going to be so much hype after this game.
I wanted to watch just to get a sense of their team before we play, but this is an FCS opponent - and not even a top tier one, like a 6-6 FCS team.

I’ll say this…

The ND OL will be the best we play all year IMO and Hartman will probably be the best QB we play all year.

The issue for ND is they have zero skill at TE or WR to stress a defense and while I like their backs they’re bigger which aren’t the backs that give us trouble.

As for their defense- their LBs seem good and their CBs too. However their DL is an enormous question mark and same goes for their safeties.

In all for our game? It’ll come down to if our DL is the real deal or not. Our DL and their OL are basically back from last year which is a matchup we owned heavily. You add that with our secondary who I think will have a severe edge over their skill and I don’t know where Hartman goes with the ball.

I am impressed though with how Hartman is placing the ball even if it is Navy. If our game is remotely close it’ll be because our DL isn’t getting home. Our DL unit wants to be great? Well… this is the game to do it. It’ll be a show me game for our DL in 4 weeks.
