"Philosophical Musings" by definition don't have to be entirely of a deep or serious nature.
But, obviously can spark a deep discussion. Perhaps the basic idea is just to get us to think or ponder of such things?
Like: Why did we go in the first place? Why did we go 6 times?

Taos I also think that going to the moon is a waste of money. We have been there so why keep going, for what?

Just tell them to eat some more peyote. which will give the individual states of deep introspection and insight that have been described as being of a metaphysical or spiritual nature.

It seems the big picture answer is the need to stay ahead in the technology revolution. Inventing is what we as a country have always led the world in. And with most industrial jobs going over seas being a technology leader is the one major thing we can hang our hat on.

All the technologies related to microchips like the Internet and cell phones, digital broadcasting of sporting events(Buckeye football). There are chips in everything these days. Even dogs and cats! Electronic media is replacing the printed page. The Bible, the Koran and Buddhist writings are in electronic media now. If you can get computer access you can get information that can save your life or a family member's.

NASA didn't invent either of those. Velcro was invented in the 30s, and Tang in the 50s.

To learn to build/colonize somewhere other than on our own planet, and to utilize the moon as a launching pad to other areas of space exploration. If we could fly from the moon to Mars, we could launch bigger craft with bigger payloads using < 5% of the fuel currently required just to get a shuttle or rocket out of the Earth's atmosphere.

First the public should have a unsecured tour of Area 51, so we know what the hell the goverment is spending our tax dollars on. I'm all for helping the planet get better, but with space exploration. Nobody lives on the planets we know of, unless we don't know shit.

Personally, I'd prefer a secured, yet unrestricted tour. I mean, I want to see everything, but I don't want any aliens coming after me if I, or any of my military tour guides, don't have an assault rifle to mow them down. :biggrin:
