ACC winner is in. Need Stanford, OK St, and FSU to win tonight and UF to beat 'Bama. Those things aren't all going to happen.

Stanford and FSU winning would not be that surprising.
UF over Bama would be the big upset we need... it's a low %, but it's not like 1%. More like 15% or something ?

The OU-OkSt game really doesn't even matter. It's all on SEC chaos and Stanford sucker punching the over-rated Irish.

It does matter.
While 2013 ending sucked, the fact that Sparty finished strong in the Rose Bowl -- ending the conference drought there (thanks Wisconsin) -- gave them a lot more respect going into 2014. Even with the loss to Oregon, Sparty was treated as a legit top-10 team... and beating them like we did was no small factor in why our resume put us ahead of Baylor.
When Big teams are considered elite, it is definitely in our benefit if they succeed during bowl season. A lot of people want to blame us for the Big10's fall from grace... but it had much more to do with Wisconsin, Iowa, and Michigan [Mark May]ting the bed hard in BCS bowl games. It's not a coincidence that we started getting more respect after a team other than Ohio State won the Rose Bowl.

I agree on the conference strength argument. I wasn't clear with my rambling post. I just meant it doesnt matter to tOSU who wins out of MSU/Iowa. I'm just a spiteful asshole and want sparty to lose. I think the B1G will do well in bowls this year, we are a strong conference (at the top anyhow).

We are out.

What game are we projected for ?
Rose Bowl...

Personally I'd put osu ahead of North Carolina and Oklahoma State who each have one loss. Remember their job is to get the best FOUR teams not the four champions.

I think if Stanford/Oklahoma state win then we have a good shot.

I'm conceding the ACC champ and SEC champ and also the B1G champ.

Pac 12 and Big 12 I don't think have a claim

I believe the point I have been making for several pages is that a 1 loss ACC Champ UNC is not guaranteed a playoff spot

Unlike your post stating your opinion as absolute factual certainty, I allow for possibilities
The fact is, you have a power five conference champ that just beat the number one team in the country. That is better situation than what Ohio State did to get in last year. It has been stated that the committee leans favorably towards conference champs. The possibility is that UNC would get in if they beat Clemson.

certainly it's a possibility

so is the committee using the rule the other way (it's discretion to use the best 4 teams regardless of conference champ or not) to put in Ohio State

like I said, there are chances. It isn't a done deal but the odds are certainly long against.
