WC Qual: USA at Honduras (Sat. 10/10)

I'm sure it'll also be on justin.tv and it's listed at atdhe.net. If you're passionate enough about soccer to sit at your computer for 2 hours on Saturday night....then you'll have the opportunity.

I have seen nothing in the previous games from the U.S. to indicate they're going to come away with a victory tonight. I caught some of Honduras' previous game at Mexico and they should have at least earned parity. They lost due to a questionable penalty kick call. Their players actually had an idea of what to do with the ball before they received it, and their touch didn't fail them. Unlike the U.S.'s players now, especially their back line, who don't think quickly and aren't coordinated. Most of those guys are just human walls/shields. Plus, to compound matters one of your players with goal scoring instincts (Dempsey) is out, and another has been riding pine at a lowly premiership club (Altidore). I FEAR it will be tantamount to the Costa Rica game, but figure it will just be a close loss.

In spite of having our work cut out for us in this game, I think the NATS have to aim for a victory. A tie is virtually meaningless because with projected results they'll still need a tie against Costa Rica regardless, if they are to qualify automatically without needing a playoff. Which probably will occur anyways, but for this outcome to be beneficial, probably, the U.S. should shoot for a win. Therefore I'm hoping for a 3-4-3 or at least 4-3-3 formation. The former is a good utilization of our personnel anyhow.

Holden just sent a perfect cross in from the corner (as usual) onto Davies' head, but he directed right at the keeper, which wouldn't have been such an epic fail, if he weren't lucky enough to get a sitter of a rebound which he mishit over the bar. Disgusting.

I guess they missed a great chance also, so we're even.

Hopefully they can stay with it and at least eek out a draw. We seem to miss at least one chance like that a match. I still think one point would be a good showing in this one.

Halftime, tied nil-nil.

I think Conor Casey's only positive attribute is strength boxing out his opponents. If that's all Bradley requires, he could have given Shaq a call-up. At least that would have drawn some attention to U.S. soccer.

I'd just find Holden every possession so he could whip a cross in. That's the U.S.' most dangerous play by far. His teammates have done him a disservice to not give him about 5 assists in his short USMSNT career. Unfortunately, we can't string enough passes together from that back to get him optimum touches.

Anybody know what substitutions the U.S. has available. Like I said we need to play for a win, so the ones I'd make would be offensive. It looks like Bradley is playing a standard 4-4-2, although that's always tough for me to gauge on video.

Not sure who's starting, but here's the US Roster for next 2 World Cup Qualifiers.

BTW, thanks for the updates, Bernini. Greenies
