Watching Ohio State on Margarita Island in Venezuela.

JXC

17-4 since 2001
I know this is a stab in the dark, but work is taking me to Margarita Island in Venezuela during the weekend of THE GAME. I am not sure that the hotel is going to have a quick enough wifi for me to watch it online.

Is there anybody that knows of anywhere that would have the game on in this part of Venezuela?

Not that I'm an expert, but aren't there some casinos there?

Edit: Once you do find a place will you take a pic with the screen in the background? Then start a thread "Watching the Buckeyes around the globe" or something like that. I'd love to see where everyone who travels ends up watching games.

I don't know if they still have Casion's on the island or not. I know in Caracas they all got closed by the government. They still have sports books...maybe they will have it on. Probably not the safest place to be, but it's better than nothing. It's THE GAME...I have to find a way! Plus my co-worker is a Michigan fan, so I gotta find a way to watch them beat some Wolverine butt!

Re: Each of our rooms is equipped with a 19" TV and this DirecTV package which has approximately 150+ channels.
Many channels are in English and / or Spanish or English with Spanish subtitles.
The news channels include CNN International & BBC
International channels include DW, TV5, TVE & RTPI.
There is also a large kids selection as well as networks showing
many top American series (FOX, Sony, Universal, AXN, Warner).
There are 33 movie channels including HBO & CineMax.

Just sayin'; Several hotels offer Direct TV; however, ABC and/or regular ESPN apparently aren't two of the channels. Needless to say US college football is not a big deal in Venezuela, if there does happen to be a "sports bar" with a football game on there; the "fútbol" is likely to be round. My guess is that you better hope your hotel does have "high speed" internet.

P.S. Several years ago I did visit Margarita Island on a cruise ship stop. It wasn't that bad of place. The cruise lines stopped going there because of their government (i.e. former Venesuelan president Hugo Chávez); however, it was a nice island and the people were friendly.
