Yes I am. Was just sharing a tweet from a UW fan.

But it looks like you're taking much pride in YOUR state now with that "flex".

definitely not my state (I just work here).
but I honestly didn't even know Tejas had them until you posted that link.

Were you born a dick, or did you studiously work at it slowly - day after day?

this is seriously on par with your tomatoes.

you should probably just put on a confederate flag shirt and walk alone through the 7th ward.

Nirvana is so much better then Foo Fighters, that if the singer and guitarist of the Foo Fighters was on Nirvana, he'd have to just play the drums or something.

Dave Grohl is a great artist and better person, but just no.

I actually like Nirvana, a lot. And respect how they put the Seattle grunge sound into the mainstream and the impact they've had on culture as. a whole. However, I prefer the Foo Fighters simply because they had more time together to grow from the grunge sound into a different style of band. I do agree with everyone that Peak Nirvana is better than Peak Foo Fighters. But, because of obvious reasons, it was short lived. It would have been interesting to see Nirvana evolve, had they had the chance, as Kurt was a rare talent. If he kept the same persona that he had in his 20s, would it his been well received if he had lived into his 30s, 40s, or 50s? Maybe, people seem to still love Keith Richards. However, sometimes what people like about someone when they're young grows tiresome as they age, and eventually ruins their legacy. Maybe Kurt would've changed and matured. But would he have been as interesting as a more well-balanced individual than he was as a tortured young artist? We'll never know.

However, the the Foo Fighters took Grunge, which Nirvana launched onto a global scale and into iconic status, and moved into further into a new world. Kept it alive and evolved it. Nirvana's and Kurt's influence can be seen in their early albums, but then Grohl went on to find his own sound.

They went from this

to

I know I'm not going to "convert" anyone to agree with me, as in a way, I agree that Nevermind and other Nirvana songs at their peak definitely define a time and are better than any single album of the Foo Fighters. But my preference for the Foo Fighters, as a band overall, stems from their progression of a group from their first album to nearly 20 years later for their most recent.

Courtney killed Kurt.

by the way, i’m actually wearing a Nirvana shirt right now while cooking (but listening to John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers)

Dave Grohl is a hell of a drummer and gets credit for knowing how to make money.
But Foo Fighters is typical mainstream commercial rock. No real risk taking at all. Literally produced to sell albums. Nothing controversial. Nothing that would have ever been described as “new” or “different”.

Nirvana on the other hand played their music with no real intention of it becoming what it did.

yeah, they always strived for it and hoped it would hit. But the music was more important than the success. It was their sound. And they played it their way.

Kurt and Nirvana played a bunch of song most people never heard and even brought the damn Meat Puppets on Unplugged and produced the best (top 2 at absolute worst) show of that entire series.

Completely against the grain.

Come as You Are was the only “hit” they played.
These are great points. And I don't have a refutation, nor do I intend to refute these points, as I agree with them.

However, reading your comments did add some perspective for me on some of my biases towards Nirvana. Mainly, I wasn't "there" when they were around. I believe you have some years on this earth on me, and were around when Kurt and the band came out of nowhere and took the world by storm. Me, on the other hand, only saw Nirvana after it became what Kurt never intended (and probably did not want) it to become.

Most of my peers wore/wear Nirvana shirts, but how many really listen to Nirvana or could even name one of their songs? Maybe a few, but for many others it's a fashion statement, something to wear to look cool on social media. So I kind of have a hard time appreciating the aspects of Nirvana that you do, since I missed it. And what I've seen instead is the commercialized, post- Kurt, legacy of Nirvana. Essentially, your criticisms about the Foo Fighters, while valid, are hard for me to separate when looking at Nirvana since all I've seen of them is based on the commercialization of their legacy.

how old are you?

i was in High School when Kurt died.

i unfortunately witnessed the glam crap from the 80s. Then Guns N’ Roses hit and wiped that shit away thankfully.

then early 90s came and this crunchy sound came out of Seattle that was like angels singing from heaven to early teen years me.

then Temple of the Dog, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Stone Temple Pilots, and Pearl Jam all hit the radio.

was like all of a sudden the radio was playing an audio version of Heroin (no, i’ve never shot up Heroin, just saying).

god that time was an AMAZING time to be in HS.
