Washington Commanders (official thread)

As a skins fan, it pains me to say this, but the two players from the U carried us to the playoffs on their backs.

swept dallas
swept the eagles
and went 9-2 vs. the NFC

fools around here are already talking superbowl

it is painful indeed to be led by portis/taylor. Portis isn't the best person, but Taylor is really painful to root for.

Should be interesting to watch this one unfold. Skins have beaten the seahawks and bears already this year, and have shown they can play with the bucs as well.
of course they are. thats what redskins fans do, is talk.
I'd hate to think what the eagles fans do... wake me up when the birds emerge from the bottom of the superbowl pile

Haha. Well, I think that the Redskins are going to be a tough opponent for whoever they play. The team is clicking, and their chemistry is absolutely amazing. Other than Sean Taylor, everyone on this team is deserving as much success as possible. Joe Gibbs is a great coach, and Greg Williams is as qualified a defensive coordinator that you'll ever find.

Wild card Redskins sweat out Springs injury
Jan. 2, 2006
CBS SportsLine.com wire reports

ASHBURN, Va. -- Cornerback Shawn Springs is the biggest injury concern for the Washington Redskins as they head into their first playoff game since 1999

Springs aggravated his groin injury in the first half of Sunday's 31-20 victory over Philadelphia. He had an MRI on Monday, but team officials weren't expecting the results until Tuesday.

"I wouldn't expect him to do much in the way of practice," trainer Bubba Tyer said.

Springs' absence was compounded when backup Ade Jimoh left the game in the second half with an irregular heartbeat. With Carlos Rogers inactive because of a torn biceps, the Redskins in the final key drives had to play Christian Morton, who was promoted from the practice squad last week.

Rogers, who has missed three games, is expected to return for Saturday's playoff game at Tampa Bay.

"I'll be ready, no doubt," Rogers said. "If it hurts, it hurts."

Jimoh was taken to a hospital late Sunday and was given medicine that should get him through the playoffs. Jimoh said he expects to practice on Wednesday.

Linebacker Lemar Marshall sprained his shoulder but is expected to play Saturday. Tyer said running back Clinton Portis "got beat up" from various hits and tackles, but there was no serious injury.
