Washington 16, USC 13 (final)

I know but I don't think we get OU type support from the pollsters for obvious reasons.

Are those reasons really obvious? These pollsters would seem to be ignoring some of the same things for OU last year that it seems you're implying they'd hold against us this year...

Oh that's right, you mean the whole offense thing. :!

...unfortunately, I think the USC loss hurts the Buckeyes more than it does USC.

I think you're confused. SOS means little compared to the polls, and the voters are all about what have you done for me lately.

Well, would you rather lose to the USC's who lost to UDubs, or to UDubs?

Honestly yes. Like I said, losing sucks. but if we have to lose, I would rather lose to equal or better talent than some random team. What that talent does in their own back yard, I can't help.

The pollsters would more than likely use the 0-6 stuff against us, say that USC had a young QB and was missing a couple of other starters and still beat us in our place.

OSU supporters could obviously counter in a myriad of different ways but it seems to me that we haven't gotten the better end of the public opinion polls lately, therefore I'm pretty sure we'd lose out if the choice somehow came down to OSU or USC.

As far as baiting with the offense stuff, Grad asked everyone to keep it confined to the proper thread. Surprised you didn't see the post.

In case you missed it, OU has lost a few big-time games in recent years too.

Lol so I sent a text to someone I know from Cali who is a big USC fan and this is how the convo went....

Me: Nice choke job today against Washington.
Him: Something that included yeah well we beat you, who did you guys romp on today some D1AA schoo?
Me: Touche, and expressed that at least we win our cupcake games
Him: If you would do your research Washington is no cupcake...
Me: I guess an 11-38 record the last 5 years doesn't make a bad team?
Him: No not at all....

Sorry had to post this because just goes to show how sour the USC fans are of this loss (as well as the other 4 losses the last 5 years to mediocre teams)

a USC fan on another board that i frequent said that no Buckeyes had reason to talk smack because Ohio State didn't beat Washington. i simply replied that we won 33-14 when we went there 2 years ago. he shut up after that...

and that has what to do with my observation that OSU doesn't seem to get the media/pollster love that would be necessary to jump another 1 loss team we lost to head to head?

If anything it would seem to prove my point. OU spits the bit frequently and yet gets voted in over Texas last year in a similar sceanrio to what we are projecting here. Do you really think OSU would get the same benefit of the doubt given the way we are consistently trashed in the national media? I don't.

I think you may be over-estimating the impact of the past failures on this year's polling, ESPECIALLY in the poll that actually counts, the Coaches poll.

Who gives a shit about the AP poll - it's meaningless in the BCS scheme.

I'd say that even if OSU and USC both win out, the nearly imminent ugly wins by OSU will have a much greater impact than previous years failures.

Hopefully. I just think the recent big game history and national perception of the B10 would be too much to seperate us from USC should we both end up at 1 loss. Then again a lot depends on how a team looks at the end. We could catch fire and hear the "no one wants to play them right now" stuff in our favor for once, who knows.

First order of business would be to win out. Looking around the B10, barring major injuries, with this defense we have a very good shot at it.
