Wash St 6 at USC 27 (final)

Hey OregonBuckeye, wanna quote me again? Hm?

No, wait, I'll do it for you:

Yeah... I'm taking Wash St with this one.

We haven't opened the playbook up enough to think we're going to win by over 45 points. If we were back to a passing team with Barkley at full health and RoJo on the field, maybe. But since none of those three things will happen, I'll predict a 21 point win for the Trojans, far under the spread.

Again!

What was that final score again?

USC: 27
WSU: 6

How was I supposed to know someone put some sort of voodoo curse on the game? :susp:

2 turnovers on downs inside the 5? A long drive ending in a missed field goal? Wazzou hanging onto the ball damn near the entire game?

I hadn't bet on anything in a while. Now you know why.

Right now USC looks like an all-star team and I don't mean that as a compliment. They look like a team thrown together for the senior bowl that has a week of preparation under their belt. Good players but not on the same page, just kind of going through the motions. This has come back to bite them in the arse once already this year and I guarantee it'll happen two if not three more times.

I think that the heavy coaching turnover is really showing right now. In plays where they opened the playbook and let Barkley throw downfield, USC looked good, and I think that was more because they're plays that let USC's talent show.

But we've had a lot of coaches coming and going at USC. Losing an offensive coordinator, and then topping it off with a freshman QB -- as good as Barkley is, that's going to be tough.

And of course, when you put in a guy who's not Barkley -- cough, Corp -- it has a good chance of falling apart.

I don't think it should be surprising that USC's defense is as dominant as they have been -- after all, Carroll runs that, and he hasn't gone anywhere. Not too many hitches (although Holt leaving means it's not exactly seamless).

But the offense really needs to click, and soon. And I think Pete needs to stop trying to micromanage the offense and let Bates do his stuff. Take the leash off Barkley and let him showcase his abilities.

A man's got to know his limitations. My guess is that Petey and the crew have their sights set on a NC next year. This year will be devoted to building Barkley's confidence and getting the offense to work as a unit.
