Wow. Being the poor sister of UNC and Duke really has made them bitter, hasn't it?

Fucking "Wake Forest Education". Whoptee-fucking-doo
Here is my response on "the other" board. Sorry, I actually enjoy both in certain respects. I only came to enjoy this board in recent months.

To many of the Wake posters...
Let's talk academics per US News and World Report (I know, other publications could be used but they are one of the most in depth).

Education School.
OSU 20
Wake Not in the top 50

Business
OSU 21
Wake 42

Law
OSU 39
Wake 36 (tie 36-39) so only one spot diff

Medical (Research)
OSU 37
Wake 41

Medical (Primary Care)
OSU 23
Wake 30

Engineering
OSU 26
Wake Not in the top 50

So, for grad school Wake is behind.

Let's talk Undergrad.

Wake 27
OSU 62

Advantage Wake, yet OSU has a higher peer assessment rating (3.7 to 3.5). Many of the other stats OSU gets beat simply because it is a large land grant public school that is not allowed to excel in many of the "selectiveness" categories. Public demand would not allow it since tax dollars help the institution. Saying Wake is so much better academically is a joke! Once you get past the initial huge general ed classes in the first year or two Ohio State is one of the best academic institutions in the United States with top programs in almost any major you can imagine.

By the way, I'm an engineer. OSU ranked 28th for undergrad (one of the few undergrad programs US News ranks), Wake not even in the top 100. Do you have engineering?

Hmmm, seems to me OSU has alot to offer on the academic side.

Yes! Whooptie fuckin do indeed! In fact, they are wrong. Ohio State education is as good if not better! They can stick that "we are private so we are better" idea up their ass. Way to overpay for your education!

Oh yeah, a WF guy responded they don't even have engineering. What the hell kind of sorry ass school doesn't have engineering? I was rather cordial on the other board. What can I say, I feel a little more free and easy over here.

Re: gost8 comment "Does anyone at any board in the world actually think that either one of these guys will stick around long enough to get there diplomas?"

Probably not; however, we all hope they stay just long enough to win a national championship (or two), etc.

Re: bucknuts44280 comment "they are absolutely scared to death of Matta"

Here's hoping all the other division 1A basketball coaches (and fans) become scared to death of Matta too.

Re: scott91575 comment: "a WF guy responded they don't even have engineering. What the hell kind of sorry ass school doesn't have engineering?"

Outstanding comment, B.I.E '71 from Ohio State.

I think it’s very important that we do point out that there are many things Wake Forest University can offer that Ohio State can’t. First off, 174 majors are far to many to choose from, 35 majors should be enough to cover the interests of any student body no matter how diverse. And yes, having half the student body be Tony Stewart fans and the other half being Dale Jr. fans counts as being diverse. Also opportunities and choices do not add to the collegiate experience at all. Every college course is interesting and therefore having over 10,000 courses is worthless.

In my opinion it really is true that the Wake Forest campus has a lot more to offer then Ohio State. It’s not just me either, whenever I’d go to one of those free events for students at Ohio State like Chris Rock, Dennis Miller, Ludacris, or Kanye West they always talked about Wake Forest. Normally it would be embarrassing to be unfavorably compared to a school, but Wake Forest is clearly cut above all schools. I mean did you see those rankings posted by Scott91575. Ignore the Education program, Business School, Engineering College, and Medical Disciplines and look at how much higher Wake Forests Law School is ranked then ours.

Lastly, I would like to dispel a common myth that Ohio State is full of students who wanted to go to Duke but couldn’t get in. I just graduate from Ohio State and I can say that it is completely untrue. However I do wonder if that statement might hit a little close to home for Wake students and alumni.

By the way I don’t post much so if someone could remind me which font I’m suppose to use for sarcasm.

Honestly fellas...Conley and Oden are not that interested in wether a school offers the most or least majors. I know that Conley is concerned about the class size, but that distance is a MAJOR factor here. Conley has not commented on his visit to Wake which is somewhat suprising.

These kids are more intersted in being comfortable with the staff and school and not wether a school has a engineering major. :roll2:

The class size for GEC for incoming freshemen is going to be big whereever you go. Hell I go to the lima tOSU campus and I had around 50 in all those classes and there are not many people that go there.

I know in Columbus there is probably close to 300 in those classes, but 50 to 300. Either way you arent going to attract much one on one time.

Its more than justified to post your link in this thread which is entitled "wake flamers". In general the Oden thread was getting off topic, the comment was not focused on your post. No offense.

I really need to learn how to use the sarcasm font. I was just givin ya a hard time!!! No worries.

Here is the best way to compare the two schools:

Wake Forest has an undergraduate population of 3,748. The SAT bottom quartile is 1250 and top quartile is 1370.

Now, how can we compare Ohio State to this when it has approx. 36,000 undergraduates? Well, we could look at the honors program, in which about 10% of OSU students participate. One of the minimum requirements to enter the program is a 29 ACT or 1300 SAT. Again, that is the minimum! (Yes, some students can join the program after their freshman year, but they must first demonstrate an ability to excel in it through previous university work)

So OSU's Honors program is about the same size at Wake Forest, yet it has higher standards. Then add another 32,000 students to diversify the experience and there really is no comparison. If you compare the graduate programs and the research conducted at the universities, the difference becomes even clearer.

The Wake Flamers have reached a new low:

They are now so upset over Matta's influence that they've resorted to calling him ugly. Yeah, cuz that Skip Prosser isn't stuck in the 80s or anything.

Check out this thread asking whether Conley will go to WF? (they are very pathetic and depressed)
I think that thread is the most depressing thread I have read on Conley yet....there are countless "Do You Think Conley Is Going To Wake" threads....the majority feel the longer it goes, the less chance they have.

I agree.....

I guess the staff is getting worried also, reportedly Prosser has been putting on the full court press on numerous other top point guards in the 2006 class, inlcuding Crittenton, who he visited in Atlanta on Tuesday.

I think they have seen the writing on the wall so to speak.

Pathetic. Even when we don't get a prospect we want, I don't expect to see anything like that around here, and I get the feel that it would not be tolerated to suggest that USC, UM, Miami, or anyother school is paying a recruit. But then again, it isn't really shocking news to learn that most ACC basketball fans are like this.

those guys are getting worse by the day. they will be in full-blown meldown mode come may 7th. i think the matta is ugly comment is probably the topper. however, the board moderator bashing osu and proclaiming them dirty is also pretty funny.

That is something we will not tolerate here at BP. I would think that would be deleted and the poster warned. Thats pathetic to even suggest and then for the suggestion being made by a moderator only shows what type of board they are running.
