The statue of a pro-slavery Governor in the US Capitol rotunda is being replaced. Jesse Owens has made the final 10. The winner will be determined by a public vote of Ohioans.

Being a Chicagoan, I would love to cast my three ballots for Jesse but alas can not, so it's up to you Ohioans to get out and vote early and vote often for Jesse Owens to represent the great state of Ohio in the Capitol Rotunda.

Bill Allen was a poor choice I agree, but I would favor Thomas Edison. His mark on history was greater than Jesse's.

In all candor, I'd probably vote that way, but I'd still like to see a Buckeye statue in there. The only glaring one that I have a problem with is Judith Resnik--let's be honest, she's on the list because she blew up...no other reason.

I'm partial to John Glenn myself, he is still alive and kicking however, which eliminates him from the competition I suppose.

Edison grew up in Ohio. But most of his adult life, when his great works and inventions were developed, was spent outside of Ohio. His impact on history is, indeed, staggering. But I'd stay with Jesse, whose impact was made as an Ohioan.

Resnik has my vote.
