Wow, thanks for all the posts (especially you and you, BKB).
So, even as RAM is typically the most likely culprit in boot problems on home machines, the symptoms pointed to MB/CPU. Still, as others here have pointed out, given my hyper-cooled machine, and the lack of doming or obvious flaws on the MB, why would they kick now? So, I purchased 4 GB of Corsair memory (as opposed to my constant use of "awesome it should so be fine" other mem), which I need for some upcoming music mastering projects anyway. You never know. . .
If this doesn't work, I will go with MB first, CPU second, based on your help, internet forums, logic, and sheer guessing. We'll see. . .
BTW, free music mastering work for those on BP, and for my practice/resume.

Was kinda funny, but I was on my pc last night doin a few things, and it shut off with no notice. Was like "hmm, ok". Turned it back on, started to boot, shut off again. So I wait a few, turn it on, and hop in the bios.....to look at the CPU temp. 111 celcius.......So I immediately threw the switch, took the case off, and found that the temp sensor wire had popped loose and fell into the cpu fan, binding it. I am amazed I didnt pop the core(s), but it is now running back at a comfortable 35 celcius, and happy as a clam :)

I have had this problem before, it was just before my motherboard and power supply burnt out. :(

Gotta be either a DIMM or the RAM itself; The only other thing it could be maybe the Power supply... but he's stated otherwise, so its doubtful.

Okay, i got 4 new 1 gb dimms of quality corsair RAM, and RAM is not the issue.
We are down to MB and CPU, both of which will be an absolute bitch to return, as they are past the RMA for Newegg and I have to deal with the manufaturers. . .

If it weren't only a few months old, I'd just upgrade. . .

We just had a similar situation to this happen on a machine this morning at work.
