heh. hopefully not this year.

I seem to remember a certain Coach of an exceptionally successful program once saying in a press conference (after trouncing a rival) "I went for 2 because I couldn't go for three."
Or something like that...I never remember the details.:wink2::wink2:

The goal is to win the game, and to get to a National Championship.

When you have four losses, take a knee. If not, it is still their job to stop you from scoring, and your job to get your team as high in the BCS as you can.

If my coach was more concerned about hurt feelings from a beaten opponent than enhancing my teams's chances in the BCS, I'd fire him.

Between UGA and UF there is a long standing agreement to score as many points against each other as possible. To quarter. No moaning about it when we go for half a hundred, just because we can.

Score. Hail Mary bomb. On-sides kick. Recover. Repeat. :banger:

in lou holtz' autobiography he tells a story of bobby bowden (i believe). he coached under bowden and then got his own head coaching job at william and mary (again, i may be wrong on that). they played bowden in his first season and bowden kicked his ass. lou was upset by bowden running up the score and bowden told him after the game when they are shaking hands, "coach, if you don't want your players to be embarrased do a better job." something along those lines.

i was saying something like that to my friends on saturday. even though tress is friends with 'tonio we needed to run up the score in that game. its a product of the system we are operating under. don't hate the player hate the game.

Well, Tressel NEVER runs the score up. And he wouldn't even if it meant losing a chance in the BCS championship game.

45-7 is solely the product of 2 defensive touchdowns. I remember the sheepish look he had last year after Saine busted a long TD run against Washington trying to milk the clock out. I will say, I get a bit disgruntled when he closes up shop early in the third quarter. But overall, I like his attitude, and would be a bit embarrassed if he forced a turnover on downs with a minute left in the game, and the other team had 0 timeouts and were down by 7, and Tress worked the ball into better FG position and sent out the FG unit. That is a bit over the top....
