Head Coach
I live 30 minutes away from Va Tech and so I know a ton about them (also cuz my best friend loves them) I don't see this team winning out. They're a good team no doubt, but that score does not show how they beat up on simply a bad team yesterday.Reggie Ball is not a very good QB. Tech's defense and special teams accounted for 24 of the 51 points. I think when Tech faces a good defense they'll be beaten. Next week in Morgantown might be where they trip up I think. To go along with Virginia, and if they win out FSU in the championship.

I jus had to chuckle yesterday when everyone was talking about how they stomped a good opponent. Thats bull IMO I don't really think GT is a good team. They beat an Auburn team that IMO sucks, and they almost lost to North Caronlina who just isn't a very good team. I thought GT ran the ball decent on Va Tech granted they only got 75 yards but almost all of it was done when Ga Tech had a chance to be in the game in the 1st quarter and early in the 2nd. I wasn't impressed with their rush defense. They do get good pressure on Pass plays though. They're schedule is weak and if they win out it'd be simply a shame if they ousted us fromt he National Championship if we won out.

Where I think the hokies are good at though is they're very discipline (no penalties hardly) and they have tremendous special teams play.

I disagree here...

I was as impressed with VT as I have been with any other team not called USC.

GT is not a bad team and good QBs can be made to look bad...see Drew Tate.

Marcus Vick is getting better every week and he is extremely dangerous. The defense was very fast and very aggressive. Add in those famous special teams and you have a very strong team.

Tech always has at least one letdown per season so I won't disagree with you that Morgantown could be a trap, but they have all of the makings to run the table IMHO.

Edit: The yardage is an unfair comparison as most of the starters were out by midway through the 3rd Qtr.

Couldn't have said it any better... they are good enough to run the table.

You have to like any team that's as strong on defense and special teams as VT. Toss in a sound rushing game and a QB who isn't making mistakes, and you have a formula with which we should be familiar. I think that Tech's chances of running the table are a lot higher than LSU's, though their main roadblocks are Miami and possibly FSU, who should be their ACC title game opponent. Both of those teams will be vastly improved by the end of the season, so it will be interesting to watch.

Oh I'd love to see us and Va Tech match up because like has been stated we both have pretty good special teams/defenses. One thing that isn't correct though is they did have their starters in until they got their last fieldgoal. Only reason I remember that is because I told my buddy that I didn't know why Vick was still in because it'd be a shame to see him get a cheap shot when its already over. Althought only thing I disagree with here is that I don't really think Georgia Tech should be thier messuring stick on how good they are. I'll hold out on what I think until they play the WV and Miami game to say this team is up there with Texas as a Co. #2.

I guess you're definatly right Osugrad21 on the comparison with Tate and our defense to go with Ball and Va Tech's defense.

I dunno maybe I feel skeptical of Va Tech because they in all honesty usually start out 5-0 or 6-0 and end the season 8-4 or 7-5.

Agreed. I think that Va Tech might just run the table and earn a chance at revenge against USC, who beat them in a close game in last season's opener. Remember, Va Tech didn't have Marcus Vick in back then.

oh yeah no doubt Vick is more of a weapon!! Techs' a good team no doubt about that, and I love the way their defense flys around the ball. However I do find them a bit vulnerable if you run straight at them. Their offense has the potential to be very leathal, but again I don't think they have a stable running game to maybe pound a game out in late October or early November. I see the hokies as a 2 loss team. The only team I'm impressed with extreamly other than USC is Texas. They're definatly #2.
