BREAKING: Ohio State flips 2024 edge Eric Mensah

The Buckeyes add another defensive lineman to the 2024 class.

Ohio State added to the program's 2024 class on Friday, landing a commitment from three-star edge rusher Eric Mensah. On Friday morning, Mensah announced on social media that he was decommitting from Virginia Tech and had flipped his commitment to the Buckeyes.

"I would first like to start off with a huge thank you to everyone who has supported me throughout my journey in football an [sic] in finding the perfect school for me to continue my athletic career," Mensah posted on Twitter along with a graphic of him in an Ohio State uniform. "Secondly, After careful consideration I have decided to respectfully decommit from Virginia tech. After much reflection and discussion with my family, mentors, and coaches I believe it is in my best interest. This decision was not taken lightly, and it was arrived at after a long period of consideration. I would lastly like to announce my commitment to play football at The Ohio State University!!!!!!!!"

Welcome aboard Eric! Rankings are pretty low, hopefully he is a diamond in the rough or late bloomer type. Seems like a future DT and imo we didn't have to take another DT past Scott in this class, so that would indicate to me the staff really likes this kid.

my initial thoughts as well but then you read that he camped here and thats all i need to hear

MENSAH BRINGS STRONG INTERIOR PRESENCE TO OSU'S 2024 RECRUITING CLASS

In his junior season at Mountain View High School (Stafford, Virginia), Mensah turned in an outstanding campaign where he recorded eight sacks and forced three fumbles.

The interior defensive lineman was adept at creating havoc in the opposing team's backfield, as he consistently shed blocks to blow up running plays and record tackles for loss. Often, he'd find ways to make tackles while still being partially blocked. Occasionally, he'll even chase down ball carries from a few yards out, as his speed is above average for someone of his size.

Mensah could project as a three-technique or another position on the interior defensive line at the collegiate level, but may need a few years with OSU's strength and conditioning program before he's ready to see the field.
