UT-Arlington at Ohio State, Friday, 7 PM, ESPN3

Free Throws: 13-27, 48.1% and a few were on the front end of the 1 and 1.

Re: The string of 11-consecutive seasons with 20 or more wins is one of many incredible accomplishments charted during the Matta era at Ohio State.

Just sayin'; Matta's 20 game consecutive season win streak is in serious jeopardy this season.

Well, they don't have to face UT-Arlington again at least! :pimp:

I'm pissed. Loving is Amir Williams. KBD has some talent but disappears. At least Lyle and Giddens try while they are turning it over 20 million times. Tate three words FREE THROW SHOOTING

Well I'm not going to be losing any sleep when Loving is finished playing at OSU - not very athletic, quick or tough for an OSU player. KBD has to play with more confidence. This team may be missing the strength and skill of Mickey Mitchell somewhat.

18 offensive rebounds allowed, 13-27 from the free throw line. :slappy:

And they've given away a bunch of free points, too.....really bad turnovers at the top of the key leading to easy buckets, technical foul.....

I dunno.....where on earth were Loving and KBD in the 2nd half? Just invisible.

They were making a host of bad mistakes in every game they played - this is the first opponent that made them pay for it on the scoreboard. Young team, hopefully they understand more clearly that the learning curve is steep and roll up their sleeves to get better.

Was at the game...not many positives to speak of. Giddens was really the only guy that played with passion and energy. As the only upper classman out there, Loving has to be a leader but he just appeared to go through the motions. Matta needs leaders or this will be a long year. Bad decisions on passes, guys not releasing and going to the ball, 48% FT shooting, no movement on offense, lack of discipline on defense leading to a crap ton of easy layups in the first half especially...just so much to work on. If I'm Thad it's hard to even know where to start.

Matta's best teams had a star player or star players with a strong supporting cast and some veteran leadership sprinkled in. This team has no stars, some guys that would be decent supporting players, and no leadership. Unless something significant changes, this is at best an NIT team.

Honestly, aside from Russell, the recruiting, relative to Matta's first 6-7 years has dipped some the last 3-4. That's concerning.

They'll be lucky to get to the NIT if something doesn't change. They got played tough the first pre season game and now this? This team doesn't have much going for it right now. Hopefully we can pull out a few decent wins this year and get to a tourney but yikes...

I didn't want to be the first to say it but the recruiting as of late really hasn't been what it was. We normally get 1 solid player per class but not much besides that it seems of late

Certainly they are in more of a building year, they could improve a lot from this point for sure - one bad loss won't keep any team out of a power conference from making the NCAA tourney. But this was an NIT-quality performance out of the Buckeyes, and they need to improve a lot or else they will be headed there.

I see an NIT roster. I hope they can prove me wrong, but I see a roster full of "meh." The past two seasons had been fairly mediocre by the lofty standards that have been developed during the Matta era, and last year we had a bonafide superstar. There's nobody in the same galaxy as Russell, Sully, or Oden/Conley. Hell, I don't even see a Dials.

Loving always has just gone through the motions, IMO. I've always thought the guy has all the tools but none of the fire to be great. Disappointing.
