thump, I agree with ya buddy but here is the thing. NO ONE ever wants to admit that VY is a great player until they play him. Hell, this board was filled with doubters as well. All we are hearing from the men of troy (message boards anyway) is that Vince throws like a girl and he just lobs the ball up there. Vince has no arm strength, heck vince really isn't even that fast. The bottom line is that he will have his chance to prove himself against the trojans. I hope he takes advantage of it.

i was a doubter too, until we played him. I honestly think that he can/will light up USC's D. Good Luck to the Horns

He really hadn't proven anything till he played us.

sorry, had to chime in here, but I think that he proved an awful lot to me at least last year on 4th and 18 vs. Kansas, the comeback against OkSt. last year, as well as him single handedly winning the Rose Bowl for us last year. Those performances combined gave our fan base so much optimism and confidence coming into this year, but you are right in a sense that tOSU game put him over the top in the eyes of many.

So glad he won the Davy, and glad to see Huff winning the Thorpe, still upset that he didnt win the Tatum Assasin award. It's good thing he is a senior, or he might have been coming into tOSU game next year with something to prove. :wink2:

Congrats to Hawk and the Lombardi Award, his first of two this weekend.

Had a long-time USC fan/friend at gym this morning tell me Texas will be "just like Oklahoma last year." I asked him if he was sure. He replied, "oh, sure."

I mentioned that usc might see a D and O speed they haven't yet encountered this year, and, that Young is a first-rate talent and leader. None of this phased my buddy.

If I was a betting man, I'd take vegas odds and Texas, even though it's a home game for usc.

Let me rephrase then.....he hadn't really proved anything against a defense till he played us.

Honestly I agree with those still doubting Vince Young's throwing abilities. I've watched Texas quite a few times this year and it seems to me he's very careless with the ball. Against us there was more than one occasion where he was holding it like a loaf of bread up in the air while he was getting sacked. He did the same against Texas Tech and threw some ducks that went the other way. That made for a decent game. He doesn't T-step when he throws on the run and he sidearms it a lot. This is just bad technique. Luckily he does enough to win and that's all that really counts. As I said I don't like his throwing and carelessness but I will be one to admit he is a very good ball player. Anybody would love to have a leader and winner of that caliber on their team. If he wasn't competing against that alien from USC he'd win the Heisman hands down. I too didn't respect him before we played him but I do now...that doesn't change the fact that he has poor technique at times.

If Young would have had a poor performance against osu. Most people wouldn't worship his jock like they do. However, most of the passes Young completed were 5 yard passes that turned into something big. Now against generic tech uni he could light up people's asses passing the ball. The big 12 is far beyond questionable in strength this year. A lot of young's passes are shit. People just wanna believe they aren't...It's funny people can find 20 things wrong with everyone except Vince Young.

Texas d will save them. Their offense is nowhere near usc talent wise. I still would rather see USC pull it off...Just because im not riding the vince young wagon.....

ok Vince had 270+ passing yards and 2 td's that game. I dont' care if his wr made yac or if he hit them and they went straight to the turf. Jerry Rice was tremendous after the catch but you don't see people taking the yards away or discounting steve young or joe montana. Look there is plenty wrong with vince young. In the ohio state game he made a really dumb throw straight to aj hawk while he was wrapped up. He is also very much a rythm passer and can get into a bad rythm just as easily as a good one. He is a work in progress but that does not mean that he is not an outstanding quarterback right now, it just means that the rest of the football playing world should watch out when he gets it down.

Its clear to me VY is the best QB in the country. The questions about his arm strength are a joke. He has a perfect quick release and can through with velocity. He is a hybrid that scouts think is the future. Can move and has height and can get rid of the ball. Honestly im tired of SC if any fan base is fair weather its theirs even more so than ND...

No one questions his arm strength, I'm fully aware that he can throw a deep ball, people question his accuracy and throwing motion.
