Sept. 2 @ Hawaii
Sept. 11 Virginia
Sept. 18 @ Minnesota
Sept. 25 @ Washington State
Oct. 2 Washington
Oct. 9 @ Stanford
Oct. 16 California
Oct. 30 Oregon
Nov. 6 Arizona State
Nov. 13 @ Arizona
Nov. 20 @ Oregon State
Nov. 27 Notre Dame
Dec. 4 @ UCLA

I still think they go 8-5 or 9-4. In past years, they would have ape raped Hawaii 70-10, this year, they actually allowed them to stay in the game. Depth is going to be an issue. I think they start 4-0, but every game from October on is going to be tough. Their starters are gonna have to play a lot of minutes, and without a bye week to rest at all, they're gonna wear down as the season goes on.

You mean from Oct 23rd?

Yes, every team they play in October has a qb that can run. Last night during the game it was pointed out that they don't have quick undersized DE's that a lot of teams use now. That could come back to bite them. I won't be surprised if they move Kennard back to DE along with Perry when he comes back. Armstead was looking pretty winded out there.

USC will not be in the Top 25 at the end of the year. Might not be a far stretch but I'll put money on it.

Why? What's to stop them from running a mediocre Pac 10? Maybe playing under the pain of underachievement in the past and sanctions will give them the motivation they've lacked the last two years.

There were more than a few things in this game that makes me pretty confident in my 8-5 prediction from USC in the Pac-10 thread.

If I had to pick those 5:

Oct. 2 Washington
Oct. 9 @ Stanford
Oct. 30 Oregon
Nov. 20 @ Oregon State
Nov. 27 Notre Dame

Maybe, but what I saw last night was a team that was pretty woeful on defense. The Pac-10 might not be great, but it's no cake walk either. After four cupcakes to start the season, they have nine games against teams more than capable of beating them. Straight up with an 85 man roster is one thing, but they're only working with 70 scholarship players right now. Somewhere the lack of depth is going to catch up with them. Offensively, I think they'll do just fine. Defensively, however, they stink.

I love how ESPN has the headline on the front page as "USC begins a new era by hanging 49 on Hawaii." But ESPN fails to mention the fact that they also gave up 36 points.

they act like "hanging 49" on Hawaii is some sort of accomplishment

Wisconsin's high powered offense hung 51 on Hawaii in the last game of last season

Like I said before, I'm willing to reserve judgment on that D until they play a few more people. It was ugly for them last night but the Buckeye D had some egg on it's face after the Navy game last year but it was all good in the end. If Virginia or Minny puts 40 on them then it's for certain that they flat out stink.

Fair enough, but their defense stunk last year and they lost a couple of their better players to the draft and have less depth this year. Also, that wasn't the same Hawaii from a couple years back with Colt Brennan, they aren't very good this year...

Very true but they do have some speed and that QB looked like a bigger and faster version of Masoli. You're right though, their D started stinking it up the last half of last season and Monte obviously hasn't fixed it. Whatever the problem is there's too many 4 and 5 star recruits playing to believe that it's a hopeless situation. There's definitely confidence issues too.
