I guess dual threat QB's aren't just Ohio States Achilles heel.

164 yards rushing? seriously...

If our offense gets on track, this just re-assures me that we too could have done this to USC. Soon, very soon we could be one of the best if not the best team in the land when the defense recieves its compliment from the other side of the ball.

It's been a long time since I have seen USC get thumped, Oregon is a fucking beast at home.
That was USC's first double-digit loss since 11-25-2000 (Notre Dame 38, USC 21), and their worst loss since 11-01-1997 (a 27-0 whitewashing by Washington).

For all of the blue chip recruits that USC gets, it sure seems like the Trojans lack athleticism. Besides McKnight (who is really a role player and not a workhorse back) and Mays (who has huge holes in his game), does USC really have many superior athletes, especially compared to other elite teams like Florida, Alabama, Texas, LSU, and even Ohio State? I'm just not seeing it right now....

Unlike last year's USC team? Yeah, I think you're right, but without having watched the Oregon game yet (it's on the DVR) I'd still have to say that I've been mightily impressed by Barkley. Standing in his own end zone with that Shoe crowd yelling for blood, having been rushed and sacked several times, he remained unfazed and drove the Trojans down the field. That from a freshman with exactly 1 full game under his belt.

When Masoli ran the ball, USC looked like a pop warner team.

I didn't have the heart to go back and watch the tape, but at the game it seemed like the OL gave Pryor a lot of time. Now the unit shuffled around with some injuries and the flu, but with the kind of pressure NMSU and other bad teams have generated, it makes me wonder how poor USC's pass rush is after all.

Barkley is very impressive, but he doesn't fit LJB's question looking for elite athleticism.

Their top two WRs are very good athletes, but no better than a number of programs.

Stafon was an impressive athlete.

Do they play like superior athletes though?

they obviously had a bad game, if you based your opinion of Ohio State's athletes on the Purdue game you would be hard pressed to find many guys who played like superior athletes in that one, even though as Ohio State fans we know that there is first round talent on the team

USC has talent, everyone looks bad when you have a bad game, I don't think you can say the program lacks athletes based on one, or even a few bad games

Athletically (which is, IMO, subjective), you won't beat USC.

But you can have all of the athletes you want and not have a good football team. Football players win games, athletes do good in the combine.

It's about molding those athletes into football players. Carroll has been very good at this, but last night their lack of tackling and discipline defensively finally burned them in a big way.
