I went to the grandstand on 17 and sat there all day. I saw more 3 and 4 putts than I've ever seen in my life. There were some serious car wrecks there. Of all the groups I saw play, there were only 2 birdies. The pin placement was brilliant. It was behind a tier, so anything short would roll back 30 feet, but anything past pin high to the left had the player putting left to right straight down hill. It was basically the demise of Phil of Duval. I really thought Duval holed his chip shot, but was very worried when I saw his putt. Everyone (and I do mean everyone) missed that putt to the low side. For some reason they couldn't bring themselves to play enough break. The only guy who made that putt was Glover, but his was a bit shorter than the other guys.
The other hole that I got to see in person that surprised me was 15. That hole is an evil bitch. Its about 460, which isn't too bad, but the green is about 50 feet elevated, and it's a par 5 green (IMO). Its tiny, has a huge ridge in the front, and the back half slopes away from the players. It was just wicked.
New York fans suck, BTW. I wasn't thrilled to see Glover win, but I would never yell hit it in the bunker before he teed off on 17. That really pissed me off. If it wasn't Tiger or Phil, they didn't give a shit.
